Nike has a very interesting marketing strategy going on with VaporFly 4%/Elite. They seem to be investing a top of capital into ads for a shoe that no one can buy. What is the end game? Will they mass produce Spring18 after a year of their athletes putting up great performances? I would like to try a pair on.

So what do you want me to call them? The VaporFly 400 Basis Points? Or just make up my own name for them?

Just curious: how many posts have you started regarding this? Seems like there's a new thread each week. I just bought a pair a week ago online. They sell out within hours. If you want a pair bad enough, you can always get them on eBay.

4. I'm actually more curious about the long term plan for the line. As I said they promote the crap out of the shoe online and on their site and then never have it in stock. It's in such limited supply they are very hard to get but it seems like they are spending a TON of money on marketing. As you noted anyone who really wants a pair and can't sit on Nike.com every day has to go to the rip off 3rd party mark up sellers.

Bought a pair of 10.5 from Fleet Feet Sports last week. Your premise that no one can buy them is just silly.

they are actually "in stock" on Nike.com now, but you can only get them if you previously reserved them with a Nike+ ID

I'm curious like the OP is: are they going to be really mass produced to where I can go to a local store and try a pair on. Its hard for me to justify spending $250 on a pair of shoes that I've never tried on before.
Just get the Zoom Fly SP. I like it better than the 4%: has slightly more firm cushioning; seems like it will last better; is $100 cheaper! I hate Nike, but I have to admit that the ZF SP is the best shoe they have ever made by far. I've trained and raced in low drop shoes for the last 4 years and was reluctant to try the hi-rise Nike, but they work, and I'm a lifelong forefoot striker.
