hi,
I really like running on a track and enjoy higher intensity shorter distance. I don't mind long runs, I do them weekly.
I like running on the track because it's easier on my knees and easier for me to calculate distance. I also like knowing where the start and where the end is.
I spent the late summer all the way up to now training with longer runs and training outside to build a base.
Since i live in Canada and there will be massive amount of snow, I would like to train like a 2 miler during the winter (save for a long run that i will do outside every week...Just gotta man up). Come summer, I will go back to build a base after a few race. I'm not competitive but I enjoy running a lot
(Reference point : been running since july. built up to 50km a week that I held for several weeks. 5km 21min 10km 46min. 400m 1min25....those are not races just training. I reckon within a time trial on no hills i could probably break 20 for the 5km).
My goal is to break the 2 mile under 12 mins.
It seems hard to find a good track program for 2 mile/3000m.
The only one that I found was this one :
http://www.runningplanet.com/3200-meter-and-two-mile-training-for-intermediate-level-runners.html
My issue with it is it doesnt seem to have a race day, or race simulation. its basically 3 phases that are the same except the distance goes up.
Do you have any links or information about 2 mile training that involves a lot of track work? (again i want to do track work due to the weather... I spent this summer doing more aerobic runs and will do the same thing next summer)
Any sort of template, or idea how to structure training for the coming months (i.e how to structure across say 4 months of snow) ?
thank you
