McGregor's name has been brought up a lot lately. Some say he was fired, others say he is the best young coach in the ncaa. How can there be such differing stories? What do we really know about him?

What is the actual story? wrote:

Solid runner, can manage some good talent and get them to race well. Didnt recruit worth a damn(no offense) and is young with a national champion under his belt in Karisa Nelson. She didn’t repeat it outdoors and had an accident after cross and got hurt so she redshirted. 10k guy ran decent but never really improved. He’s hyped up on letsrun but is young and jury is still out. There’s a good crop of young coaches that belong in the argument including him. He’s probably looking for another position now.
Having one or two runners make the jump is hardly indicative of a great coach that is capable of running a big-time program. Not saying that he doesn’t deserve a chance but there are a lot more qualified coaches out there that have shown more. On top of that, if he just recently got fired after having a national champion then something must be out of whack.
First I heard that one? Is this confirmed somewhere?

Edrick should go after Hall as if Hall does not bring transfers over from Clemson no Edrick exists. Boogie would never be hired at a place like Texas. Although Floréal is starting to not get those yes answers to the job like he thought. People don’t want to work for a selfish person. In the end life is a minute and you don’t want to spend 20 seconds on idiots.
Sounds like Edrick has reached out to a few coaches but everyone turning him down because they know the type of boss that he is. No one wants to be miserable for the next 5 years of their life until the crazy Texas administration fires Floreal for non-performance (since he won’t have Tim Hall or Sydney to carry the team).
McGregor has not recruited a soul. No way he gets one of these big head jobs. Solinsky, Kennedy, VanHoy, Bell are the other top young coaches. With Bell presumably taking over Cuse and VanHoy either UT or UO. The other two should have chances at other jobs if they even have interest.
If Sacramento state wants to attract some better candidates they better increase the salaries. The head coach makes under 100k and some assistants are in the upper 30’s. That’s chump change in Sacramento.
Aurora - Fellers
I guess with the AD on vacation Aurora announces athletic news this way.
External candidates, if any, will have to wait to get the "official word" next week.
Where is the head man at sac State going?
Possible he is leaving to head to siu to work under his old boss again. If they paid enough he could be living better in Carbondale than on the director salary in sac. Lambert was rumored to be out and about for power5 gigs.

After VanHoy McGregor is the next young coach programs want. There’s a changing of the guard and young coaches starting to get chances. Can easily see him at UNC/UO men/UT or another one of the distance openings that come at expense of movement.
How many points did those two score at nationals with people they signed?
Gavin Kennedy > Van-boy and McGregor, 0.
Bring back Hadsell, his rumors were more entertaining and the guy could sell.

I am a former athlete under Fellers and am thrilled to hear this news. I think he has shown great dedication to the student athletes and has exhibited the ability to consistently adapt and keep an open mind. He will do great things for the program.

No he’s not chill out man.. the Syracuse assistant would be better
Even the assistant coaches that have ran in the Orange in the past are better than McGregor.
Haha is Kevin Hadsell seriously the next Billy Mays? That's honestly good publicity for the running community.

Love it.
Lambert’s name has been thrown around a lot. We will see if he does land a power 5 job this year, sounds like he will

So he is leaving or he isn’t?

I don’t think McGregor really has proven himself to be worthy of a big hire. He would be more marketable if he can take Samford to the Top-5 of the region as a mid-major.
Van Hoy and Gavin are acres ahead of him on every level. Seems like McGregor would be better off taking over a MAC, MVC or Sunbelt program and taking them to a decent Level.
Kevin coach again? We saw him on a billboard in Philly while at Penn.
https://instagram.com/p/BkFgt9lDLWA/if he returned it would have to be as an assistant at a big school where they probably have football and basketball coaches with history.
Sac isn’t worth the aggravation at less than $100k. Give me $50k in Carbondale any day.
Any updates to these? What is going on at W&M? I cannot believe the fall fall from grace of that program. This is shaping up to be a huge summer for jobs once some of the big jobs are filled and the trickle down.
Maybe this was covered but doesn't Gonzaga not have a track facility?
Here is how coaching world works:. Braman who needs to retire. Has ten GA’s. He wants all of them to get jobs. Bob is more politician than. Coach is helping his good friend Dave Smrth out. Dave no longer wants Bobby on staff and knows Bobby can’t get any job on his own. Dave calls up Braman and says hey he needs that job at Unc. Braman’s pushes for this to happen so he can in turn get one former GA to OSU. Unfortunately Meaders is finding out the scam of Lockhart with no actual coaching duties, and the team dynamic is bad at OSU as Dave has lost the team.
