Morgan had 6 figure offer last year, Fetzer gave him pay increase to stay just to fire him few months later. Left Morgan, his wife and 2 small kids on the street. Anyone looking to get distance/cross country job at Virginia better think twice, not worth it. That place is a sinking ship, look elsewhere!
You must be completely out of touch with the coaching profession in general- Coaching is cutthroat, it’s not personal, it’s bussiness and you MUST produce results at a big school like UVA. Straight up- Morgan wasn’t getting it done- their women were getting blasted on the recruiting trail by in state schools. The end of the season results at the championships were terrible this year and that is not just a look at this year alone but it is a result of a lack of development and recruiting over the past few years.
Morgan, like most coaches at the DI level, can do well with talent, but wasn’t very good at finding more of it and stocking the cubbards for the future.
Fetzer made the move he had to for the future of the distance program. You will see a big boost in their ability to recruit with the new hire.
Morgan is also entitled to unemployment benefits so he won’t be out on the streets with zero income whatsoever.
