It’s true
Please stop bringing up the following names because they’re thrilled about where they’re at. Powell’s, Vanhoy, Gary’s, Watson, Vig, Ben Thomas, Dave Smith, and Gibby. Have to consider lifestyle, kids, family, not wanting to start over, etc.

Get back to us after the summer. Would wager a couple of these are not what you think.

its lame to keep mentioning the same ppl as if theyre the only people that can coach. thats whats wrong with this sport, theres too many other good coaches out there getting it done to keep mentioning the same people. Its funny because when you look at most of the national champions in middle/long distance events at NCAAs, those athletes are coached by people not on this list.

Since when does winning matter? And winning coaches do not have as much incentive to move. Names on tongues is what gets people jobs. Not resumes.

Your statement further solidified his. Conditioning everyone to talk these guys up by continuously mentioning them doesn’t qualify them to be great coaches.

Winning coaches from smaller division I’s or smaller divisions that deserve their shot at moving up have incentives to move. And should have precedence over these washed up coaches who can’t get It done.

Its called the garmlich effect.
You know other than some of the top DI programs out there, winning is not really a priority for a lot of schools administration, especially at the smaller schools! It's about numbers and if you can recruit and bring kids in. I would say that 80% of AD's out there have no clue about xc and track! They want to hire someone who will bring numbers in and keep the roster size up, field a program that is somewhat competitive, and have kids do well in the classroom with no major issues on campus! This coming from personal experience! A lot of programs that are very good are very good not only because they have a good coach, but they have support from their school! And yes, quit throwing the same 4-5 names around like Vanhoy! It's like Vanhoy and the 3-4 others are on these boards typing their names over and over again!
Front runner will be Angie Reckart

Vig- Princeton
The Garys- Furman
Sullivan- UM
To follow up on these three:
Could DEFINITELY see Vig applying.
The Gary's might be intrigued, but they are in an ideal situation at Furman. Don't see it.
Any updated info on the University of Texas?
