Does no one want the Northwest Nazarene job? lol
Has Syracuse made their hires? What about UCLA women's?
Devin to cover both and hire an asst.
What's happening at UW-Milwaukee?
What's happening with UNLV?
How about Sac State? I assume hiring from within is fake news. Chris Huffins was the lead dog, but maybe they realized he's unhirable... so.... who is next in line?
San Jose? retaining the rest of the staff or wipe it clean and build your own staff? She's got a great opportunity here!

I know San Jose is at least hiring 1 sprint assistant, maybe even 2 with them bringing back the men’s program

Sorry, I’ve worked at the highest levels of every NCAA division. Power5 is the only one where we consistently put in 60hr+ weeks. D3 was fun and there were some great coaches there but overwhelmingly, they weren’t getting fired for only working 40hr weeks. Big time athletics is big time!
This is such a broad generalization that it has no truth to it. There are D1 programs where coaches put in 100+ hours a week and there are also programs that have coaches with little kids that only putting in 40-50 hours. There are D3 programs where coaches only put in 40 hours and there are coaches that put in a constant workload. Neither division has a monopoly on long work hours. Also, sometimes D3 programs require that you have a second role such as Director of Intramurals or Assistant SID that easily pushes you over 100 hours.
But as a former D3 sprints/jumps/hurdles coach, here was a typical week during the fall which had the least amount of hours. This hypothetical schedule is 90 hours. Again, many weeks required me to help out at soccer and basketball games, which easily crossed over 100 hours. Spring semester was even worse as trips and meets would last 2-3 days. And as an assistant coach with sprinters and the only kids qualifying for nationals, I was always the first coach to arrive and last coach to leave with no weekends off. I worked much longer hours than the head coach responsible for distance runners, because none of his/her athletes made nationals and they made the "younger" coaches responsible for things they should have been doing themselves.

UNO has hired Brian Johnson. They have also already chosen a distance coach.
Memphis is in the process of interviews.
Air Force has their guy.
Rumor is Akron is going with the sprints coach from Northwestern State.
Now since that’s over with what’s going on with Northeastern and Drake?
Akron’s hire, so much for knowing it all young man.

The Northwestern State coach turned down the position is what I was told “young man” it happens. I can promise you Alan Quinn wasn’t their first option lol. He was fired before the season was even over. Brian Johnson was right on though and just a little insight he will be bringing in the kid who was a volunteer at OU a few years back Brock Moreaux. I believe the kid actually is from that area so it might be a good hire.
Who's Air Force choosing?
You were a sprints/jumps/hurdles coach and you had ONE practice per day and it lasted 1.5-2 hours per day? Bless you!

Quinn was fired not because of his performance but because the HC was looking to change the dynamic of the staff, which is why the replacement was a distance hire. Quinn is a great guy, solid coach! Why so disrespectful?
2010 NCAA Champs Results
23. Bigelow, Jason Oakland 3:53.62
Last place in 2010 where you stated you coached an ALL American.
You may have to prove the rest as well as much is fabricated or untrue.

No disrespect towards him at all. I hope everything works out and he kills it at Akron. I just stated he was obviously not their first choice. Fired or not he had no regional qualifiers last year, and has never had any national qualifiers. Akron isn’t the premier sprint school but they are one of the most dominant non power 5 schools in the country.
Best of luck Quinn.

Hey I hope you have better luck at the next place you apply so you don't come crying on these message boards again.

Of course Quinn wasn’t the best choice, but who hires the best choice anyway, rarely! Most hires are a popularity contest. You could have Alberto Salazar apply for a mid major coaching job but if the head coach knows someone or has to hire someone he was recommended to hire he won’t hire Alberto, who is obviously one of the top Distance coaches in the Country. The system is flawed as it’s not based on merit or competency. Most industries could not function efficiently off of this platform but coaching a sport is different.
