What has Eastern Washington decided to do?
Have they hired someone else? Interim?
Any word?
A former athlete who works full time for the university in another capacity has taken over as interim, Aaron Brenton. I am surprised they took on someone who has connections to the past two dirt bags, not that it is his fault though, he didn’t pick em.
Findlay news release here:

Never even heard of this place.....Findlay??
Aaron is really young, but seems like a great guy. The athletes got an upgrade from Chris Shane and the guy has barely coached.......which isn't saying much for Chris Shane...
I hope things go smoothly for the athletes there. WOW, have they had a shitty time with the last two guys.
They should hire a female this summer, unless Brenton just is crazy impressive.

They should not be hiring a coach based on them having or not having certain sexual anatomy. As has been mentioned in this thread recently, schools can be sued a lot of money if they are not considering applicants because of their gender. It’s not that EWU needs a woman at the helm necessarily, they just need their AD to do at least a little bit of research before hiring this time around. The fact they hired Shane in the first place tells you they don’t take all of their sports seriously.

Do you know something about Chris Shane that others do not? Had any personal dealings or observations? I have always been perplexed by him. I do not know what occurred at USF other than the obvious, one guy was brought in from Boise and Chris Shane "left the program." I have heard the rumors that he was sent off for undermining Helen but that has never been confirmed.
And how did it happen that he was hired at Eastern Washington after being fired from an assistant job? I do know from credible sources that they had many qualified applicants. Even the local community college turns zeros to heroes every year and has a tradition of winning. I also know that a former professional triathlete turned private coach was a finalist for the job, I believe he ran collegiately at WWU. How do you arrive at the conclusion that the 40 year old who never ran in college and was just fired from an entry level job is your guy? Was it really just because his father was an all time great, he just had the right last name?
Chris. You don't have to kiss your dad's but all the time. Focus on your lawsuit and maybe getting a new job and then focus on recruiting instead of bitching on here
So word on the street is that Lisa and Marc did not voluntarily resign. Lisa was pushed out after asking for more time to care for her husband Marc, who had been involved in a very serious bike accident during the past cross country season, so that she could eventually return to her duties. The administration did not want to give it to them and have put the throws coach in charge of the program on an interim basis. Both Lisa and Marc had been at UF for a very long time, close to 60 years between the two of them so this is a pretty big shock.
The job itself is a very good opportunity in terms of division 2 track and field. The track program has consistently been in the top 20 at indoor and outdoor nationals and has gotten as high as a runner up finish at indoor nationals in 2015. The teams travel quite extensively for a division 2 school in Ohio. They are consistently at marquee meets like the Boston Valentine Invite and the Penn Relays which indicates the travel budget is not lacking compared to many other D2 programs. The school also has a flat 200m indoor track that was recently re-surfaced and a newish weight room. Only real knocks against the program itself is that the men's cross country team has been absolutely abysmal for the past 2 decades and the women havent been all that much better, never sent a men's team to D2 nationals and the women's team has only gone once in 2006.
Very curious to see if Blaine stays on as the full time head coach, wouldnt be surprised as most of the recent success on the track has been from the throwing events and he is a very respected throws coach. He would have to hire someone to run the cross country team and I dont imagine he would be allocating a whole lot of scholarship $$ to distance runners given his background and the lack of success. Interesting times ahead for sure
Regarding Findlay situation: If this is true, and there is not a lot more to the story, it's a sad indictment on supporting loyalty in our field of coaching. Of course, it's all too common now-a-days.
West Alabama Head Cross job open.
Who is in at UCR Throws Coach??
Question for the older and/or head coaches out there...I always got the impression that through my 20's, those doing the hiring preferred single guys knowing they'd be more accepting of the 60 - 80 work weeks & odd hours this job requires. But now that I'm almost 30, I'm hearing & kinda getting the sense that those doing the hiring (head coaches & AD's) are going to prefer a married candidate - at least someone who isn't single - and possibly even kids. Basically, the thinking goes, these guys are less likely to engage in scandalous relationships with athletes. Would you guys say this is the case when the decision makers are hiring? Of course, the reverse could be said...single guys in their 20's are probably the worse offenders of this behavior. I just never really bothered with the whole dating thing since I've been too busy with my career (and I'm your typical male distance runner) but wondering if I need to start bothering now to give myself more career opportunities...

No shizzle. What’s the rumors on their replacements?
I have heard Ubuff throws coach is retiring. Who is the coach in waiting for the position? I would assume an alum would be up for it.
