I've been injured the past 8 weeks with a stress fracture in my 2nd metatarsal and I've been cleared to start running again. Track starts early February so I have about 2 months to train...should I just run a base from now until then? I've done XC and my PR is 17:45. The mileage for that was relatively low, like anywhere from 30-35. I've done a 2:05 800m and a 54 in the 4x400. Is building to 40-45 miles a week realistic until February? Should I add more? I'll add a 4 mile tempo once a week and a speed development day as well once a week as I build up, as I don't want to become reinjured. I also want to lower my 400m to 52-51 if possible, but I know that will require more speed as my best 200m is low 25 after running a 56 400 in a workout. My goal for the 800 is around 2:02 or better. I am going to try to lift two-three times a week starting now and do strides after my easy days. If anyone has any advice on what I should add to help me achieve my goals, it would be appreciated. I am a senior male and I am 18 years old.
Being injured sucks, I wish I could've started my base a month ago...
