USA Triathlon has had great success in recruiting runners with swimming backgrounds (Gwen Jorgensen, the 2016 Olympic gold medallist was a runner at Wisconsin who had never done a triathlon until 2010) and they're back on LetsRun.com hoping to find their next Olympic star through its Collegiate Recruitment Program (CRP).
CRP Manager Barb Lindquist, a 2004 Olympic Triathlete, former World #1 for triathlon, and ex-collegiate swimmer from Stanford, is going to be on this thread to educate us about USAT's CRP and to answer your questions about the program. She did a similar thing last year on LetsRun.
You can find details of the program here:
I'd love to see the next Gwen Jorgensen be found through LetsRun.com. So if you are interested in triathlon or know of someone who might be, be sure to tell them of this thread.
Mainly this thread is for your questions but since I'm starting it, I'd like to welcome Barb back on LetsRun.com (she did this last year) and say thanks for being so successful with the program that Gwen now feels the need to tackle the marathon full-time. I'm really interested in her prospects as a full-time marathoner.
