That’s what they do - This strategy has been successful since at least 1996 with the “Micheal Johnson is the worlds fastest man” story after the Olympics, if you say it enough times, people that don’t know any better will believe it. They probably tell the NXN runners that the track at Nike headquarters is named after a former worlds fastest man.....
Not that Johnson wasnt fast but the fastest man is the 100m winner. Just like the biggest individual HS CC win of the year happens in December at Balboa. Not that other meets or records or wins aren’t impressive as well.
