Let's not get started with Texas. I don't have exact numbers and YES they have had their moments, but go back and look at South Lake Carroll's team finishes over the years, especially the girls. Definitely in the tail end of the team scores many, many years. I'd be curious if anyone has a breakdown of team finishes (boys/girls) by region over the years. I'd almost guarantee the South region is bringing up the rear. I could be wrong.
Southlake Carroll is one of the smallest schools at NXN every year they send a team. A low relative enrollment, yet they make it to the national championship. I'd call that extremely impressive , even though they don't win it all.
I looked at the schools in the boys race, and Southlake Carroll ranked 22nd out of 22 in enrollment. The champs, Loudoun Valley (Purcellville), were ranked 21st. If school enrollment were the sole indicator of potential, then some teams with over double the number of students of the smallest schools should be on the victory stand each year. Doesn't work that way, though. A bigger pond has more fish, though, and that's a great starting point.
Congratulations to the mice that roared, like Southlake Carroll and Loudoun Valley.
