You know who I am talking about. Bikers, Triathletes, Corporate Runners. People who pour thousands of dollars into gear and their performances dont warrant it at all. Moreover, they brag to you about it.
Just ran 21:30 and wearing that badge around the office. Smart phone search results show interest in purchasing an altitude tend. Oh wait--was that an alert we just heard? They roll up their sleeve and boom, most expensive smart GPS watch on the market. They know you run too and they tug at you with questions like "what pace do you run" and "what is your heart rate?"
On social media you see their account auto update after each workout telling you the time and distance. They dont know it but youve limited seeing those notifications and feel awkward when they ask you if you saw it tje next day. At their house they show you everything they bought online and how great it is. At the start line they have $300 sun glasses, the 4% Nike Shoe and the most expensive race attire. They ate energy blocks and clif bars prior to the run. If only they knew what TrackSmith was they'd wear that around too.
Meanwhile, you, who hasnt taken running seriously in five years, run 17:40. No GPS watch. No heart rate monitors. Split shorts, basic singlet and a pair of beat up racing flats. Youre quiet about it because to you it is no big deal.
Your jealous corporate buddy turns around and says, "Wow just think how fast youd be if you had all the cool stuff I do. I'd bet if you hired a coach you'd be great at the triathlon" to which you just exhale and look the other way because they dont get it. No use in confronting the situation because they wont understand.
Please tell me your stories.
