It is only a problem if you're not invited because you're probably at a school with a small travel budget. Look for other meets or reduce the number you travel to.
Universities don't get to decide which meets at A&M they go to, regardless of travel budget. A&M tells you which meets you're bringing your team to. These meets are very restrictive for any D1 program that is not a "full team" and in a Power 5 conference. I don't recall seeing very many D2 programs.
