Yea the video is boring. It's on of those last meet 'i'll run the steeple, have a crazy fall, everyone will think i'm a badass for a year'.

you ever run the steeple? forcing yourself to mess up is near impossible. that first kid looked like he legitimately effed - face first.
Funny but embarassing to the athletes and the program. Do some barrier work guys.
Why anyone would put their name on the tape is beyond me. Congrats you two; you suck at steeple.
Congrats on failing to see the humor in it, i thought it was good

There's a video out there of Princeton's Frank Macreery when he was in high school (I think) going airborne over a regular barrier that it way funnier.
I don't usually post, but for reference, the video RM is referring to is up at:
http://www.princeton.edu/~macreery/wfm-steeple.wmvThough admittedly, Ryan Clark's steepling performance is far more impressive:

I nominate this thread for "sticky" status
Im on the UD track team and was sitting on the outside of the track watching when the fall happened. Those guys are both 5k and 10k guys who dont usually run the steeple but did at the last meet of the year just for fun. The first guy slipped on the barrier and went down and the second guy was worried he was going to step on the first guy so he tried to slow down or avoid stepping on the first guy but in the process fell himself as you all saw. It wasnt a set up as some of you allege. For the guys who say it was boring, then you need to get out more. Word up and good times running.
ah...classic...The best part, arguably, is the running commentary in each.
I love the whole "Ohhh...are you ok?"
And come on...you nerds that are like "do some barrier work" or "How embarassing" - get a life. Enjoy track and field. Its not a job. If you're planning on placing at NCAA's, then by all means, never lose focus. But for the rest of us, throw the javelin your last meet. Or run the 100m. Or...try the steeple even though Richard Simmons has more ups than you.
Signed,
-Proud to say I didnt fall when I did my "last-meet steeple."
PS thank god its friday ... cause Im working harder than an ugly stripper tryin to make a buck...
Elguapo, let me guess you totally sucked at running?

Line of the day so far!
Sorry, but I'm calling bullshit on the first video. Looks like some track guys got a case of the "Jackass" and decided to be the track version of Johnny Knoxville. Now those other vids, that's great stuff.

no way. you would have to be a professional stunt man to pull those falls off. well, at least the second fall. unless you are real drunk or high, your body isn't going to let you just hop up, get your feet caught behind something, and take a headfirst dive into a pit of water a few feet below the barrier. go try it and see if you can get yourself to jump.
HIGHlarious. im at work and almost shit myself...much thanks

He came back and ran 9:23 for second in the state in that race. Not too shabby all things considered.
Anyone got any history on that Ryan Clark video? that one's hilarious, it almost looks like it was deliberate though. He doesn't even start to jump before he hits that thing.
Someone needs to find some video of the 2000 Outdoor Big 12 Championships where Steve Slattery gets lit up by the third to last barrier as Chuck Sloan sails over for the win. You could here the whole crowd go "OOHHH" as Slattery face plants on the track. He still finished in 3rd place with a low 8:40's effort. Biggest digger I've ever seen!
how about Broe at 2001 USATF meet, in control until face planting in the last 100m.
anyone see 2002 heps at navy? harvard guy trying to pass yalie over last water, goes head-first into the pit and takes the yalie out with him. think they were 4th&5th at the time, but think both finished out of the medals. one of the nastiest falls i've ever seen. harvard guy was pretty banged up, couldn't even run ic4a's the next weekend....
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
