Also US #1 5k time for girls this year I believe.
Does she have that bad of a sense of pace? Serious crash and burn off a 5:06 opening mile.
1M - 5:06.7
2.05M - 11:16.7
5:13.50 for the last 1.05 miles (about 4:58 mile)
2nd mile is tougher for sure 5:06, 6:10, 5:14.
The splits are at 1 mile and about 2.1 Mile... There is only one mid-race timing pad.. hence its at the same spot. Technically the start/finish line aren't at the exact same spot. So the 1st split is 1mile... The second split is just over 2.1 miles, and the last split is just under a mile (but barely.. probably .99).
Also, the first mile is the fastest, with a net downhill. The 2nd mile is by far the most difficult with the 2 hardest hills of the course and several other smaller hills. The last mile is the opposite direction of the first mile... so obviously it is a net uphill.
Her pacing was actually pretty good.
She runs like a metronome so I would expect even effort, though not necessarily even splits. Her not facing Tuohy is starting to look tragic. No one else is close to these two...maybe even in all girls' XC history unless you include Trotter, who had obvious "issues" that Lane and Touhy don't seem to have.
Tuohy wins NXR NY today by over 1 minute. Wow - both are way beyond their competitors.
Yes - its too sad that we can't see them race each other in XC this year. Perhaps we'll see them head-to-head at an indoor or outdoor invitational in the 2-mile. For an XC matchup - it looks like we'll have to wait for NCAAs.
BTW, FM-Manlius ladies dropped 23 points on the NXR - NY field today. They will favorites to win NXN for about the 100th time again.
NXN should offer a wildcard invitation to Lane

Or, FL should offer a wildcard invite to Tuohy
That means that both fields would have to expand the numbers of each of their races by one person. That would be especially be dramatic in footlocker. That would also be unfair to all the other competitors who either qualified the hard way by racing or just barely missed qualifying. Yes I understand that footlocker ne and nxr ny are on the same way, but logistically this is how these regional races work out. Maybe Cali should move their state meet back by one weekend, that would do the whole country a favor.

The best girl HS runner has been at NXN every year since Baxter started that trend.
FL has not crowned the girl HS XC champion in many years.

It would not be fair for Tuohy to run NXN on Dec 2nd and then FL on Dec 9th, if Lane is only running FL on Dec 9th. It would only be fair if they were both only running NXN, or only running FL. That way they would have equal time between races.
It would also be fair if they both agree to race both NXN and FL. A double-header!
double-header??!! wrote:

Claudia still has to run the Footlocker West Regional on Dec 2nd to qualify. It would be fair.
I think it would be spectacular if Footlocker lets Tuohy run if she accepts the invite. She has more than proven that can handle high level performances back to back.
Don't count out Olivia Theis from Michigan. She's gone sub 17 four times this season on some tough courses. The national media forgets about her because she doesn't run on one of the coasts.
Conditions were also pretty bad compared to past years. Got to the upper end of warm as the races went on, where in most years it stays cold & conducive to fast times throughout the day.

I don't know who she is, but she had an impressive margin of victory at Midwest.
In 2015 kelati was the better runner, proving that at ncaa's last week.
Footlocker Nationals crowns the girl's and boys cross country champions every year.
If anyone has an issue with that then they need to grow up.

I'm pretty old and grown up and I disagree. It's true for the boys but it's been back and forth for the girls.
