This is cool. I love seeing this stuff. Reminds me of an article a few years ago on the marathon world record that said how long people could keep pace with it. So like an average person was 200 meters, and a good college runner was maybe 10k. Crazy when you compare stuff like this.
When I was around a 17:30 guy, I was at the track doing some interval training and I did a one-off 1000m as fast as I could. I barely broke 3 minutes, and I was absolutely giving it all I had. I looked like I was sprinting. Had the blood/copper taste in my mouth at the end, the whole deal. As I stood there bent over with my hands on my knees, huffing and puffing, the thought entered my head that I had just run one single km at a slightly slower pace than the WR pace for a marathon.
You must have been a pure distance guy, im interested to see your prs
Most people can't run one mile at the pace that jaguar1/Camille Herron ran for the 100 WR last weekend (7:38)
That dude looked like jamin
and his name is "jamie" today is also the first day jamin posted with his jamin acc. Maybe Jamin ran this after the bachelor party he went to and got really out of shape?
@Jamin care to explain?
How is this so challenging for people? 60 seconds?!? What is Mo's per lap pace for his PR in the 5k? A healthy male who runs a lot should be able to match it for more than a lap, I'd think.
Mo is running 61 second 400m at his 5k pace. That guy basically ran a 60 second 400. Your perception of "healthy male" is skewed bro.

I think I had a couple more qualifiers than just "healthy male" in there. A healthy young male inclined toward running...
I was a severely mediocre high school track athlete. My 400 was 51-52 seconds and my 800 was 2:03. I knew many people on the team and not on it who were faster than me and who were fitter as well.
Those athletes were maybe just more inclined toward running or certain things in their lives made them fast. Sage Canaday - 2:16 marathoner, said in peak 1500m shape, he couldn't break 56 for 400 meters and only ran 2:00 for 800m(so 2 laps at mo's 5k pace.) Idk, maybe in a time where we hunted for our food, fought, only the fit survived etc... Or maybe somebody inclined towards middle distance/sprinting but not just any runner. 60 is still fast, I think you don't realize how fast a runner you actually are. A 51 second 400m highschool runner is gifted.
"51-52 seconds"???
I hope you didn't show up for classes the next day after stinking up the place with that slow azz time. A time so bad you can't even remember the seconds, much less the decimal.

I know of hundreds of healthy males that are track and xc runners that are lucky to break 60 seconds for 400m. You expect an average healthy male that is likely 30 pounds heavier and not run 50 mpw to be a better runner??
Also, 51 is far from mediocre. Kenenisa Bekele might not even be able to run a 51.
Ok, now. Kenny can definitely go 50.point, we know that for sure.
They should try his 1500 pace.

Didn't make varsity in the 4 with that time. Had to run the 8 instead. I was mediocre at 8 and didn't even think about running in college. I am old and slow now so it doesn't matter about moi but I am surprised that 60 is considered quick. Then again, I gas out quickly; you guys could run me down after the 800 meter mark with little effort.

Why are you calling him Mo?
He has made it clear his name is Mohamed.
Racist.
Well his name is NOW Mohamed, but it was still "Mo" who ran all those 5Ks!

He knows that, man. His hope was to have people tell him how good he actually was (which he knows). It looks like some of you took the bait, and he succeeded.
If they think that's bad, have them try running at Kenenisa's pace
Not many people can run 2:01 in the 800m.
Even for fast college guys out of season that isn’t easy.
If it was easy people would be jogging sub 4 and not many people jog sub 4’
I admit in high school that wasn’t insane but just last winter my friend who is 30 now...was a 14:00flat 5k guy and 4:06 miler in college is still very fit but couldn’t run 2:05 all out.
I can’t break 2:15 now and I ran 1:56 in high school. I’m still super fit I run sub 2:30 in the marathon but I can barely run a 2:30sec 800m.
There is no way I can run a 61 second quarter without an injury.
