Want to run on some nice soft cinder and build my aerobic monster profile in honor of rob connor not giving a F about anybody's opinion.
I've been perusing the parks around U of P on Google Maps and I can't find anything. Nothing like a good ole dirt or cinder track.
Do they describe it as a cinder track (I cant watch the video right now)? In the picture, it just looks like a dirt path worn into the outside of a soccer field somewhere.
That is a good idea, actually, if you have access to a large field and can get permission to groove out a path in the grass. I would make a nice big one 800 to 1200m long and measure out some distances and use it for longer repeat days.
That would beat what our coach did, just coning out a course on the grass of the intramural fields. It was great when the grass was dry and had just been mown, but if it was long or wet I hated it and wished we could just use the track.
Just a guess, but I think it is across from Hudson Bay high school in Vancouver Wa. It's behind fort vancouver national park. It's not far from UP.
I have run on it a lot- it's a little slippery in the rain and there is grass growing right on the inside lane, but nice and soft.

Definitely not a cinder track. That's plain old dirt.
Oh and it is an old cinder track that is not maintained. The high school built an all weather one in a different spot.

I can see that, I suppose. It must have been a long time since they maintained it. The cinders have all but disappeared.
So very clutch Muddy Girl! Thank you! I was hoping it was somewhere around N Portland that I hadn't found on gmaps.
Maybe I will venture forth into the netherworld that is Vancouver and give it a try. I shudder at the thought.
While I have your attention ... Any idea where this grass field is that BTC was working out on with Infeld, Frerichs, Hastings etc?

It says south portland but that's not south portland. It's not Duniway. Can't figure it out.

That looks like Delta Park behind Walmart. Some things are not matching, though.
Yep, Delta Park. Things were not matching because the Google Earth image I was looking at is from 2012.

Wonder why they traveled all the way to North Portland for THAT workout...??

Still a bit of a hike for a track workout. I'm sure they drive, but I wonder how they donj't opt for a high school track a little closer to the university.
Although running on an unmaintained dirt track helps build a real blue collar image.

Blue collar? I disagree. They're just running.
There are artificial turf fields like that everywhere, do you really need to know which one BTC was using?
We had a dirt track that looked exactly like that in HS and it was terrible. The ground is always uneven. I live by a dirt/cinder track now and it's also terrible, I don't know why anyone would run on it by choice. Those turf soccer fields on the other hand are great.

Anyone know if folks can just walk onto those turf fields or is a City of Portland permit needed?
Relax dude, I was just was curious. It's always nice to know of some turf or well maintained grass fields. Delta park looks pretty large, so less turns than just running around soccer field 8 times to a mile. If it's got Jerry's seal of approval then that means it's not a piece of trash.

Why say south Portland, then?
