I'm too lazy to do the research, is she a grad student?

born in 1991, that is outrageous
new mexico is unethical for allowing her to run, she's 7-8 years older than some people in that race
NCAA needs to fix loopholes like this
That's on the NCAA. Don't blame UNM for taking advantage of an opportunity that is completely within the rules
If she is competing within the rules (and it appears she is doing so), then the problem is with the rules. However, stating your age four years younger than she actually is does not reflect well on her or the school.

Agreed. Not sure why she would do that if true. My guess would be that her coaches told her to as that doesn't sound like something she would do herself.
UNM has nothing to do with getting her eligible... that's all Liberty, her original NCAA school!
if you'd like to explain how this 26 year old is eligible and has two additional years of eligibility, go right ahead. I have no idea how she's eligible and I can't find anything in the rulebook to explain how this happens.
some sketchy loopholes, or some flat out lying if ednah told the ncaa she's only 22. there should be an investigation.

Let’s appreciate talent . This is a sport and she has trained real hard to attain shape and win the nationals. Congrats Edna Kurgat..
So if a 21 year old woman won last week's state championship XC race, we should just appreciate how talented she is?
how old are the oldest runners at BYU who returns from missions?
how is she eligible wrote:

That's not really how it works. Can you point to why she wouldn't be eligible?
You must be an admin. from Liberty that wouldn’t give her a full release last year. She would be a 2X NCAA champion if it weren’t for the sexiest Liberty administration. They gave Stanley Langat a full release this year.
She is the younger sister of Carolina Sang. So when these two team up and beat everyone’s a$$ next year, New Mexico is going to laugh all the way to the national title.
You are a fool to think she is 26.

There is a guy in the top 7 right now who is 24.
You do realize that Edna Kurgat is a common Kenyan name. Similar to John Smith in the United States. Please do your research before trying to smear Ednah’s success with your lies.
I see that the xenophobia runs pretty deep in your Letsrun organization. Did John ask Justin Knight how old he was? I didn’t think so. Never ever think about interviewing my son. He will tell you to go to hell. You know how I am.
Wanting athletes and teams to follow the spirit of the rules is not xenophobia. Write to the NCAA and their sponsors if you feel the system is being abused instead of just complaining online.
It's clearly her:

June 15 birthday
Is it also common for the to share the exact same birthday and 3k PR while running for UNM? I don't care that she is 26, it should just be openly known if in fact this gives her a 7 second advantage. Being 26 doesn't take away a single stride of work that she put in this season to get to that finish line first today. She is a talented athlete and did a great job today. Age advantage or not, she is a champion.

I just want them to follow the rules.
Because this "spirit of the rules" thing is so inherently subjective and usually defined after the fact. And frequently invoked against people that are not liked or not approved.

So the Liberty administration is so sexy that they prevented her from becoming 2x NCAA champion? That is some serious hottness power! I gotta see these ladies!!

Lol
Well I suppose you could look at it as the rules are wrong. However even if she is 26, how many women are still in shape at that age? If you are lucky they turn to the marathon which does little to enhance their beauty.
For women I'm not sure if it's an advantage to be 26. No doubt it is for men.
Edna Kurgat is a babe. Perhaps someone needs to start a "most beautiful runner," thread again. Let's not be haters.
Be a bit more positive.
