I'm a male distance runner and a junior in high school. I ran upper 920's - 3200 as a sophomore. I'm starting to look at different schools and have noticed that you can get large academic scholarships at the University of Alabama. While they are pretty good, they don't have very much depth in cross country and most of the top runners are juniors. Plus they have athletes on their current roster that had 3200 times in the 920's too so I think they would at least return my email.
I live in the Midwest and I like the fact that the school has students from all over the nation. If anyone that is reading this has insight into the what it is like to be on the team, I would love to read what you think about it. What is it like to be an athlete there? I'm very interested in the team culture and if most of the runners stay on the team all 4 years or get burned out. I have not reached out to the coaching staff but probably will in the near future.
If anyone has feedback on other SEC schools, I would like to read that too.
