BYU hype balloon flies away deflated.
Bravo to the Pilots!!!
They both were on the podium. Neither won so by your logic Portland also went home devastated. BYU was at least trying to win the whole thing, instead of running for a podium spot.
Colorado St almost pulled off the unthinkable...a podium finish over CU. They were 4th at 8k. Their #1 man Jerrell Mock dropped 159 places the final 2k (10th to 169th). XC is brutal.

Crazy, crazy BYU hype this year

When was the last time that a team had 3 in the top 10, let alone the top 8 at NCAAs?
In 2003, Stanford went 2-4-5-6-12-13 for their top 6. 24 pts for the win.
Ritz won after an abbreviated season coming back from injury. Hall-Robison-Dobson-Luchini-Tenforde-Sage.

Correction: Mick Byrne. Don't blame his guys.
11 Southern Utah ?
NCAA should be embarrassed for not streaming this live.
Great win for Justin.
Impressive win for Lumberjacks.
Oregon had a good day.
BYU, proves once again you can't win a race on hype.
MUGA
Why does D2 results get 1k splits for both races and historical results for athletes while D1 gets 3 splits for the men's race? Shouldn't D1 have this too?

Rojo, remember when you chastised Portland for coasting WCC? Looks like it worked OK for them.
Yep. And I'm still disappointed in them.
I said it on the podcast. Why don't we just get rid of all regular season meets? I'm serious. We should just have two meets by this logic. There would be more drama. We have two meets. Conference and nationals. If we need regionals, then we have a third. But everyone is blowing off the season and it's horrible for fans. So since the coaches don't like running hard in regular season meets, let's can them.
I'd rather be BYU. BYU won their conference meet and finished on podium at NCAAs.
Portland got perfect scored at conference meet and finished on podium at NCAAs.
Lol, wroooong. In this sport, nationals is the only thing that really matters. That's just the way it is.

Yeah, thought the Rams were going to go top 5 there at 8k. Still a great year for the rams to finish top 10. Mountain and West regions are insanely tough. Top 4 teams, 7 of top 10, 10 of top 25.

Because: “I chose D2”

That Stanford team was in the back of my head as a more dominating performance but I didn't recall exactly what places they got. Thanks.
Syracuse totally flew over my head. Nice reminder to see what Knight has been a part of in his amazing collegiate career.
It really seems like you don't know the back-story, or don't get it. there were reasons that those guys were held out at the WCC. Sure, some teams run a harder regular season than others, but the is all part of their plan too. Why not chastise Oregon too- they have historically deemphazied XC. The idea is to place as high as you can at Nats with what you have to work with. How you work with what you have is the art of coaching.
DO NOT let Portland off the hook on this. Just a chump move. NCAA structure HAS TO CHANGE or it's going to be a bunch of crap like this happening from here on out.
