I was recently a member of a cross country team which was consistently coached very poorly. The top runners were angry as they all showed regression, which led to a divide in the team. As a result, the coaches gave 6 runners the “coaches award,” which is basically an award for their favorite athletes. (Only two runners were given this in the past.) These were all low-end runners who never objected to the coaches wishes, while Awards dealing with performance were done very briefly. The coaches daughter even got a coaches award. Is this reasonable?
