Seriously, how/why are there such big cultural differences? Why such jealousy and HATE from Americans compared to the love that the brits show their athletes?

Because Americans are very hostile creatures who thrive off of seeing people fail.
Brits want the best for their Athletes and honestly don't even care if they are doping though I don't think MO is doping.
He’s from Somolia
Mo Farah is a winner. Rupp "wins" non-gold Olympic medals.

Part of it. Farah is an East African and East Africans have dominated the world distance running stage for decades now so it's not unusual. Rupp meanwhile is European - American and its unusual to see them competing /w East Africans.
I think personalities play a part of it, too where Farah is this beloved extrovert with his own pose who does media tours and appears on talk shows like Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton. Rupp, an introvert, keeps to himself.
Yeah 26:44 is a ridiculously fast time, very suspicious for Rupp to be able to run it clean. 12:52 or whatever isn't really necessarily that fast for an East African.
I think we should consider the fact that Mo distanced himself from Alberto at the time of the allegations while Rupp is much closer to the allegations.
wow, what a circus show. what a friggin circus show.
Just because he gets knighted doesn’t mean everyone loves him... The Brits are far more hateful than Americans. If you ever visit you’ll get insulted 10 times before breakfast.
Actually it was Britain that had what was known as "the tall poppy syndrome" while it was America that loudly and proudy boasted to the world of its success and winners. It looks like America has become a lot like the worst part of Britain. There is a thread on here with over 100 hits about Flanagan's politics, yet nobody really knows her politics and some of the posts are horrible.

This. Americans smile in your face but once you turn around to leave they stab you in the back.
I bet every single Rupp hater would smile and take selfies with him if they would meet him on the street. Ten minutes later back home they would sit and write hostile comments.
It's also because Rupp is only really of interest to American fans who have little else to cheer in top class distance running.
Farah actually wins things, it's why he's popular.

No he did not.
I think a lot of dislike for Galen may also go back to when he was a professional runner for like a year and then got to run at Oregon or whatever he did. Good for him, college eligibility/ametuerism is stupid, but he's had his own set of rules and I can see how people who don't get special treatment might not like that.
I'm an American who recently moved to GB. So far, everyone who I've met knows who Mo is and what he's accomplished. There's even a wax figure of him in the Madame Toussads in London. However, nobody I've met outside of the running world in the US has any clue who Rupp is or even Meb or Shalane. Makes me want to live here longer.
Mo has done something exciting/excellent for many many years.
Rupp has done something pretty good a couple of times.
So you need to reward pretty good as much as lifetime achievement in excellence?
Man you do not understand effort.
The UK is a small country desperate enough to celebrates accomplishments of its subjects that it grants knighthood to people like Elton John, so they won't look too closely a Mo's doping allegations. In the US virtually no one knows who Rupp is except people on these boards, and Mo is as reviled here as Rupp. The venom isn't based on jealousy and hate but on the fact that people here plausibly believe the accusations against them.
Mo was on a completely differet level than rupp. Its the difference between a 2:05 pr kenyan marathoner and kipsang/kipchoge. In track championships, rupp was always in the conversation of who might get lucky and medal. Mo was always "can anyone knock him off the top. " If rupp had the level of success that mo did, he'd be famous outside of t&f fans as well
Track and field athletes don't attain much mainstream fame in the US no matter what. Centrowitz has a gold medal and I don't know anyone who knows who he is. He wouldn't be recognized in any city in the US except maybe someplace like Boulder.
