FDR's family and many North Eastern rich slimes made $Billions poisoning Asians with opium.

They were harassed because of politics between the US and China. China is very mad that the US has not apologized or paid any reparations for murdering millions of Chinese with opium and imperialism. Why they picked on a bunch of college kids is chicken sshhiitt though,
Seriously? It was the brown toothed Brits that forced Opium on China, not the US. They had to overcome there massive trade deficit due to their addiction to tea. Get your facts straight.
If you accept money you forfeit your eligibility immediately and are kicked off the team, right? Um, this is a worse thing to do. So the penalty should be greater.

I have to assume that these guys never attended any class in anything, if they never got the clue that committing even petty crimes in a country like China is truly, truly unwise.

We are not UNC. Our guys attend class.
I think house arrest is sufficient. They also became part of an embarrassing international incident. If they had shoplifted back home they would have gotten five minutes in timeout. Perhaps sit a few games. Permanent, no. Nic Saban just had a player get indicted for inflicting great bodily imjury in an assault and that player is on the field.

This is a good idea.

Yeah, that's who you want to use as your role model...

From LA, these three punks have returned. UCLA has acknowledged that there is a CCTV video that implicates three separate thefts.
No less than kicked off the team, loss of scholarships is deserving.
As a financial supporter to UCLA, anything less than the above will result in loss of my annual support.
I hope you tell the Athletic Department of your stance. I doubt they'll care, but who knows?
Their punishment should be that school/conference administrators should make millions off of their (relatively) unpaid labor. No one else should be allowed to pay them for playing their trade for at least a year either. That'll show em.
1 year suspension at minimum.

UNC athletes attended classes. UCLA ball sports athletes get the same privileges. Of course, the NCAA will do everything in their power to prevent discovery, like they did at UNC.
Maybe if these college athletes were paid some of the millions of dollars D1 game broadcasts generate the athletes wouldn't have the need to steal.
Don't thieves usually go to jail? Or, they can rebuild the Great Wall of China.
And get Mexico to pay for it.
its not like they knelt during the national anthem or anything.

I might sit them out until the conference schedule starts but, even then, I think they've been punished enough.
Whomever here that has not participated in stupid stuff as a college aged student may cast the first stone - and even then I'd take a flawed collegiate athlete over some holier than thou wannabe any day of the week.
What 'punishment' have they already had? Sitting out preseason is a gift. An no stealing candy or a pint glass from a bar is not the same as hundreds or thousands of dollars of merchandise. Especially for kids not paying a dime towards their tuition.
You don't think that embarrassing their parents, coaches, university and Nation aren't a form of punishment? To cry out for stiffer than necessary punishment like suspension or expulsion you would have to believe that they are incorrigible. Why would you think that without knowing them? Because they're black, athletes, prima donnas, liberals?
Look, the reason I side with the lessor penalty argument is because, since they are athletes, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. If they were incorrigible they wouldn't have made it this far in sport. Sure some have fallen through the cracks but that is a tiny minority of the whole. Thousands upon thousands of student athletes make their way through he system just fine.
Based on my presupposition, I'm positive they have suffered enough and "we" should give them a get out of jail free card with a reasonable punishment that doesn't include expulsion and maybe a limited suspension.
That being said, I would like to hear how you've established your opinion on these three playas.
