The regular DoD has SWAT specialists who have massive resources and backup troops to carry out missions. The CIA used SWAT and 10,000 backups to kill Osama Bin Ladin. Who needs Marines?

Do you mean to say DoD has Special Operators? SEALS. Army Rangers were backing up SEALS on said mission. If you're making a redundancy argument, know that SEALS are not necessarily a cost savings. All the money DoD puts into SEALS, I don't believe it's a cost saving investing in SEALS as opposed to USMC. USMC are light infantry. If no more USMC, thousands of army infantry troops would need to be assigned to USN.
Lesson here: Go Air Force or Coast Guard
You are clueless. I am an 8 year veteran of the United States Navy and went through BUD/s Basic Underwater SEAL Training and was never subjected to any type of treatment like the recruits of that guys division. I also lived across the street from MCRD Marine Corps Recruit Depot (San Diego) The Boot Camp and knew plenty of DI's and they never subjected any of their recruits to that type of treatment. We had Muslims in my BUD/s class that were not treated any different then anyone else. This Gunny is a moron to not understand that we need the Arabic recruits they speak the language that we are at war with. Any person who thinks boot camp is like Full Metal Jacket should sign up and learn. You Sir Clearly have never served or you would understand this.

For the past 300 years The Marines train the FBI, NYPD SWAT, Navy Pilots, SEALS, CIA, Green Berets, 101st Airborne, Air Force commandos, Secret Service, etc. As punishment the Marines for 10 years should be trained by fatties in college ROTC clubs ;-) That'll teach the Marines a lesson ;-)
FFS - the Marines haven't even been around for 300 years. Stop making sh*t up.

In HS ROTC they taught us that USMC are Risk Level 0 mission soldiers. The normal 4 or 5 branches are Risk Level 1-5. 0 means suicide, don't need plans, don't need ammunition, don't need artillery, don't need bayonets, just a prayer, i.e. USMC are man-to-man killers.

Believe it or not, the Delano CA police dept invented SWAT in the 1960s to control striking farm workers in the Central Valley of California. Daryl Gates of L.A.P.D. copied the little farm town's invention. At Quantico, FBI followed with teams of special operations agents. The Department of Defense and other law enforcement agencies of the US Government came later.
Let's post random news articles covering criminal behavior. Not sure what so many LR posters are trying to accomplish.
Barbarism must end!
Why would you love this? WTF is wrong with you?!
He earned the title "United States Marine". Awesome. Recall many tough guys like J Edgar Hoover, Riddick Bowe, Daryl Gates, and a million others, pussed out of MCRD Hollywood or MCRD Parris Island.

It all started with USMC. Since USMC were always light infantry and since USMC were alway an expeditionary force, USMC assumed police duties on islands and foreign territories. In 18th & 19th Century, USMC were the closest entity Uncle Sam had to Special Operators. Read: USMC Small Wars Manual. USMC obviously pre-dates FBI. USMC taught FBI Urban Warfare tactics. USMC Base Quantico, established 1917. FBI training center on USMC Base Quantico, since 1972. USMC taught the FBI. USMC teaches FBI today. All the Special Forces were created to take away gusto and glory from USMC post-WW2. USMC is a subsidiary of US Department of Navy. USMC does not have enough powerful people advocating for USMC. All Special Forces were created to take away prestige from USMC. All Special Forces were created to put USMC out of business. USMC is a bargain compared to all the money invested in Special Forces.
No. High Tech made is cheaper to use conventional DoD personnel. You know yourself In the process the USMC destroys the lives of too many recruits and candidates, dumps them back onto American society, totally bombed out mentally, demoralized, with no confidence, unable to function in American society. It's cheaper for US taxpayers to use high tech Defense gizmos, and regular joes from the conventional branches, it's that simple.
However the USMC is now developing Artic/Antarctic ICE Warfare capabilityto fight wars atop and under floating ice and glaciers,. There no high tech solution available from the Pentagon and Defencne Industries, It's 100% blood, guts, super high casualties, suicidal missions, Medieval war principles, and so on in Ice Warfare, i.e. there's no Geneva Convention in Ice Warfare.
Regarding your statement of psych damage to USMC personnel: Considering the way Uncle Sam utilizes USMC personnel, I believe USMC personnel in aggregate do better than expected. Some Marines are highly productive as civilians. Extreme anti-social behavior is rare considering everything.
The family should file a complaint wit the UN Human Rights Commission.

This is Middle Ages Barbarism and it has to stop
I feel sad for the parents of the soldiers who sent their sons to help America win the War on Terrorism and they ran into a domestic Terrorist in the army
From all the movies Saddiqui and others already knew he was going to be beaten and tortured so they knew "what they were getting into". Too late to file a complaint with HR ;-)
Sergeant Felix should not have been found guilty because all of the USMC DIs in the past and present did what he did to recruits a million times. The stupid part is that kid couldn't take it and killed his self.
I hope Trump pardons Gunnery Sergeant Felix of the Marines.
