Hello! I just started my training for a indoor 3.000m in February. For the last 2 weeks i.ve followed the following schedule:
M: 8M including some drills and strides
T: 4M + strides in the morning // Short reps (indoor) in the afternoon
W: 8M
T: 8M including some (pretty easy) hill sprints // 4M easy in the afternoon
F: 4M + strides in the morning // Longer reps (indoor) in the afternoon
S: 10M easy (on a forest trail)
S: 2hour long (pretty easy) run (also on a forest trail if possible)
This would be around 70M a week.
The short reps are 200s and 400s (a total of ~6kms).
The longer reps are 500s and 1ks, even 2ks .
The indoor workouts are with the team so i have to keep them in my weekly schedule. Now and for the first 4-5 weeks i.m running them (much) easier than the 3k pace (especially the longer ones).
what do you think? can you give me some schedules of yours or of your athletes? Is the volume ok?
my current pb is 8.33, i wish or 8.25 if possible :)
ps: i.m also going to try an 1500, aiming for a sub 4'
