Oh how the mighty have fallen. Do you think Rupp would be this slow 10 years after retirement?

I don't care how slow he is running. However, anyone that gets into multiple hashtags at the end of any post of FB or Instagram is a complete loser.
I bet Bob and his 12:58 5K PR sleep pretty well at night without your approval
They've both earned the right to run as slow as they want there is no list of personal worsts
Alas, talent goes away.
I've always been fascinated how really talented athletes seem to decay worse than people who had to work for mediocre gains.
It's like when their additional fitness erodes their natural talent goes with it.

I think he retired a bit longer than ten years ago .
But indulge yourself Mr. 18m5k

Agreed. I highly doubt Bob cares about your opinion. He was brilliant in a drought of US distance running. I think it says a lot that he would post these stats given his very impressive resume. Nonetheless, I am glad you posted - it makes me admire Bob that much more.

lol I am well aware of his PRs. He was a truly great runner. However, I stand by my statement that people that feel the need to post multiple hashtags after every social media post are irritating at best. "Loser" was a bit harsh, in retrospect. Either way, I can separate twp different feelings about someone. It appears you feel I can't. Understood.

His last US title was in 2004...So 13 years ago.
I ran 18 flat in a road race when I was in 8th grade. Your talking to the 2008 Jump the Gun 10-13 Age Group Winner.

haha, keep piling it on, guys. Because I definitely made my feelings known about hashtags because I wanted him to care about my opinion. :)
His XC spikes were straight fire.

Yes he will be, Father Time is undefeated.........
I have trained with guys that have been in the Olympic Marathon and 10000m final and then can't even run 10 minute pace anymore. It happens to everyone........
I don’t recall how old Bob is now, but my guess is if he wanted to put the work in again, he’d be much faster than 99% of us in no time. Talent does NOT go away completely. It might be dormant now, but is still there underneath.
Many of us actually enjoy running for running. I think with him, it was like "playing" sports like football. He did it to win. Once he was done, he is no different than a sack of potatoes that most pro athletics turn to.
Exactly. Kiprop's dad isn't running ten-minute miles. It looks like he kept at it, part of lifestyle. It's great Kennedy is coming back, but he hung up the shoes for many years.

I'm not sure you understand what you actually said. Bob put in hard work to achieve his success in distance running. He can gain some of it back more quickly than it took to get it. That's basic exercise physiology.

That IS what I’m saying. Everyone on this thread is mocking him and writing him off. I’m saying that his talent is still there, and if he wants to put in even part of the work he did when he was world class, he’d be at a level above most all of us in no time.
What part of that don’t you understand?
As a current resident of Westerville, I have nothing bad to say about Mr. Bob Kennedy.

So what, he was running fast when nobody else from the US was. The guy was a beast. I'm glad he's enjoying getting out there now. He's got nothing to prove.
