The only race she has run full tilt is the Mt Sac. race on 10/1 . Just because a time is fast and she demolishes the competition, doesn't mean she is all out.
That may be the plan, but looking at it from the outside that doesn't seem to be the case. Take a look at her time differential on the same courses this year versus last year.
-38 seconds: Twilight Inv 2017 v 2016
-38 seconds: League Meet #2 2017 v 2016
-43 seconds: Mt SAC 2017 v 2016 (-17 course about 5-10 seconds faster due to course change)
-42 seconds: Ventura County Champs 2017 v 2016
-44 seconds: League Finals 2017 v 2016
-62 seconds: CIF Prelims 2017 v 2016 (went easier at CIF Prelims last year)
-40 seconds: CIF Prelims 2017 v CIF Finals 2016 (prelims and finals use same course)
As you can see, there is nothing to indicate she is racing at anything but 100% every time out, with the exception being CIF Prelims in 2016. She has one speed and that is full blast.
She is on pace to break both the Woodward Park (CA state meet) and Balboa Park (FLN) records by a substantial margin.
Katelyn Tuohy and her coach should seriously reconsider racing FLN. It would potentially be the greatest female high school head-to-head battle of all-time.
