Yes, Allyson Felix. She's switching to the marathon and will be six times better than Gwen because she has six times as many gold medals.

Saying that is just shows how little she knows about the sport.
Actually, I think you're showing how little you know about the sport. Gwen ran a 53 minute 10-miler on a difficult course off of triathlon training. That's sufficient to prove that she's ALREADY one of the best road racers in America.
GET ON THAT BANDWAGON! RIDE THAT INTO THE SUNSET MY FRIEND!

Ummm... has she ever heard of Jordan Hasay?
THANK YOU!
Gwen will not will. Gwen will not even make the team.
Ever seen an east african line up for a Triathlon? Didn't think so.
Gwen you are as disrespectful as you are talented.

Only if they make it a marathon relay
My main point was that height has little to do with someone’s ability to handle heat. And I’m not sure there is a ceiling. Usain Bolt proved that in sprints. We don’t see tall distance females because we are pushed into other events and sports. Just like men. Just because you don’t see tall female distance runners does not mean they are not capable of competing at the elite level. There just aren’t that many who try. It will certainly be interesting.
Oh, man. Found the idiot.
Height in track and field is a bell curve. Look that up. The shortest runners are in the 60/100 and the marathon. Tallest are in the 400/800. (Obviously only talking about track and not field events). Body size (height) is directly correlated to how someone handles the heat especially over long distances like marathon. Ex: Paula Radcliffe. She was excellent in the cold, struggled in the heat always.
Usain Bolt is a massive outlier. Just like there are outliers in everything. I also enjoy how you compare the 100m to the marathon, LOL. You sound like Average Joe Sports Fan.
Female track athletes are also some of the best paid (female) pro athletes in all of sports (competing alongside men determines this). Tennis is the other best paid female sport (also compete alongside men). WNBA salary cap is 99k....

When did she leave Asics?
Well as soon as she leaves Asics she might show potential.
This is one of the more idiotic posts on here. 100M runners are short even though the best of all time is 6'5"??? Gatlin is 6'1", Carl Lewis is 6'2" and Powell is 6'3"! So 4 of the all time greatest 100M runners are VERY tall but you want us to believe that the best 100M runners are short???
You then conclude that tall marathoners cannot deal with the heat because ONE tall marathon, PR, had a tough time in the heat? Tergat, as in the 6 foot tall Tergat, did just fine in the heat. Kipsang, also 6 feet tall, does just fine in the heat. You seem to be confusing 300 pound football players, who struggle in the heat, with less than 5% body fat professional marathoners who are tall who can handle the heat. Again, Gwen always has been someone who handles heat well so what on earth does it matter that PR didn't???
So, guys...I don't think Gwen is actually 5' 10". She's more like 5' 8", maybe 5' 7" or 5' 9". I've never actually stood back-to-back with her, but I'm 5' 10" on the nose and Gwen is definitely shorter than I am.
And I don't think she's 126 lbs either -- the woman is *tiny*. For sure she's strong, and has long arms, but she's got narrow shoulders and a marathoner's build. You know, sometimes people's listed height/weight are inaccurate.
Take a look at this so you will understand better:
http://www.track-stats.com/track-and-field-body-types/2012 Olympics. The shortest average men's running height (shortest first) was
Marathon
10k
100m
5k
For women it was:
10k
5k
Marathon
100m
As you expand this data among more elite world-class athletes this would only become more true.
And the tallest for both genders being 400/800. Like I said previously, bell curve distribution. It's okay you don't understand statistics. Good job using a few singled out examples though.
Being an idiot is tough, huh?
Gwen was less than 25 seconds behind Jordan Hasay at the 2016 USATF 10 mile championships, and beat Sara Hall. Therefore, her potential is at least somewhere between 2:20:57 and 2:27:21

Great point.
A little arrogant to say you are gonna win Olympic Gold.

Humble, my ass. What arrogance. Triathletes have always been an arrogant bunch. She is an excellent triathlete but olympic gold in the marathon? How disrespectful to those who have run 20+min faster than her.
I agree. It amazes me when I hear athletes make crazy predictions about their future.
Brilliant.
Who the world would care if she said she was going to switch and become a hobby jogger?
Aim for the top you awesome MF and send the world devastated.
She has the winners' mindset, which many American women do not.
Watch ol' world, and be amazed. You just got some free talent out of no where to come down and reign supreme.
If she win, she will be the tallest woman to win gold at olympics marathon
She's 5' 10".
She could do a year of marathon training and see where she is and still have time to switch back to triathlon which she would own. I think she has the option to go back if she is not where she needs to be in a year.
Nicola Spirig who was the London triathlon former gold medalist took almost 3 years out of tri and came back to silver in Rio.
Jorgenson right now can out run any women ITU triathlete, that was her signature.
Womens ITU triathlon will be more interesting without her, but you can still root for Flora Duffy who wins accross numerous formats such as XTerra.
I read a little bit further. It was something about "analytical."
gotta love them EPOpians.....
