Will it be like 2014 Boston, where the non-USAers "tanked" the result to allow a hometown win?
Well, I'm not the conspiracy theorist, as the "storyline" is already out there, put by herself.

Wouldn't she want her story to start with a major win (international field) in a marathon before ending her career with one?
The odds on the bitcoin betting market are already shifting. Increased chatter among operatives and all that.

Hard to say. Most big exploitation will bet sooner to the gun, but I don't see that the market is that wide in the first place. Probably some guys make a mediocre amount of dough, of/c connected with agents of those who are in on the deal. But the majority payout is definitely direct.
Another angle to bet the finish time, as slower than Kenyan standards. But again, the pool is small.
Mary Keitany is not going to concede anything to anyone

Agree. Don't think they can pay off enough like with 2014 Boston.
Flanagan is all talk, but no dough to pony up.
You guys are reading far to much into it. Talk about conspiracy theorist!
Meb got away in Boston and the others who closed on him ran out of race. He's not the first runner to be out front and not get caught.
And, Ryan Hall "claiming" to slow the other Americans down is ludicrous on all levels. Those other Americans were glad to just be hanging on with the pack until the inevitable happened.
95% of LRC would be betting for Keitany, so you can see where the smart money is.
I have a hard time believeing this will be fixed like Boston.
Maybe if the course went past the attack site, and Trump (USA) were in attendance (or at least in the country), then a fix would make sense like 3 years ago. But who really cares about Shalane Flanagan winning the distaff event? Even the media "feelers" in the preview didn't seem that serious about the prospect.
Pathetic

Who one is willing to bet on its not the same as who one considers the favorite.

Dear Mary,
In a show of resilience, please don't be in 2:17 shape, because I won't be there.
Best regards,
Shalane
Aren't we still recovering from 9/11?
If Flanagan's issue is leg strength, rather than aerobics, then she should have shortened up her stride (and increased her cadence) a skosh. Compare Flanagan's longer 'power stride' (and cadence) versus leader Keitany's faster cadence.

Looks like the "conspiracy theorists" were right again.

I'm not surprised. Ppl were saying there was no funds to pay off enough Kenyans, but Wall Street is rich of course.
Hopefully this will end once-and-for-all the naivety (and media cover-ups from those who know better) about running events.
Go back and read some of the cycling books from the last couple of decades. Paying for a finish was commonplace. And that sport is WAY bigger than running.

Note that so-called "running media" like LRC doesn't dare put Flanagan's "winning" time on their homepage, for fear it will be so blatantly obvious how slow it was.
Compare that to the usual, where we always get that X won in 2:05:yz or whatever.

Agree. Flanagan's apparent victory will make minor headlines in running circles, but whatever Trump/Mueller does next will immediately swarm the news tomorrow. While NFL anthem protests and fall-outs for PapaJohn's will dominate the sports/business page.
This isn't like a Kerri Strug moment. America really isn't watching or caring.

Or whether NBA owners are, well, "owners" of their supposed slaves.
