Men through 5k in 16:15. Both Ward and Abdi appear to be falling back?

ward out the back at 18 mins.....
Some non elites caught up. We think they have a different start. Anyone know what this blue tape is? We're trying to find out from organizers.
A couple of guys just picked up the blue tape and ran underneath it:

Prediction, the women go through half in 1:15, then Mary runs a second half
Yes, Mary will run the second half of the marathon, like tens of thousands of other runners today.
Epic fail, I ment to say then mary runs a 1:06 second half

?
Looked like Kipsang missed his bottle at the aid station, stopped dead in his tracks and turned around to grab it, which caused Abdi to crash into him and fall down. DQ for Kipsang!
nobody wants to run
I was wondering the same thing. Guessing they were in the orange start and got out to a faster start and are just getting rolled up by the pros.
Ouch, 2:17:18 pace, Keitany should join the elite men
Ward back in the lead pack. Abdi appears to be catching back up as well.
Just got here late - which feed is better, the ABC one or the Eurosport one? Which one are most of you watching? Thanks
The blue tape is separating to race courses -- there are two start lines and the courses are kept separate for eight miles to make up the difference in distance.
by crossing over, the sub- or local-elites that crossed over either cut the course or added to their distance.
Think these are "5 boro challenge" runners, they had an earlier start time. One from each boro.

Umm. Wouldn't it be like a car accident? If you hit someone from behind, it's always your fault.
I wonder if Koen Naert, the Belgian, ever considered becoming a cyclist instead of a runner?

ABC is better quality-wise, but lots of commercials. Eurosport isn't horrible, but a bit pixelated - but far more coverage. I'm on Euro.
Where is Desisa???
With the women's race being so slow, I think the doors are opening up for Shalane
