The guy had a 300 meter lead on the nearest runner and was missed directed at the 3 mile.He ran an extra 700 plus meters but he also had to run through the other runners as he was 23 place when he got back on the course. He covered his last 1k in 2:29.This guy had a lot in the tank too.FYI he has not lost this year.
What team? Who has he raced?
Tulane.
He is undefeated this season, but had not really raced against anyone of importance this season.
Today was his toughest challenge. He beat Brian Barraza (a 13:52 performer) and Preisner (an 8:49 steepler).
I guess that his first real test will be at regionals. We will see there whether he can be counted as one of the favourites. He won regionals last year and we all thought that he had a chance at nationals, then he finished 85th. However, he has progressed a lot in the last 2 years, going from an 8:59 steeple as a freshman to an 8:36 steeple as a sophomore.
He will win NCAAs in 27:50.He also broke his foot or something last year in that race.
I do not believe that he ran "700 plus meters" extra in this scenario.
He did .
This is a lie. He and Barraza fueled it out near the front the entire way. Rotich is good. But this course isn’t a good indicator for nationals.
Who told you this?I was at the 3rd mile
Doesn't mention it on the Tulane website report.
When is an 8:49 steepler someone of note? A 16-year-old ran 8:26 this summer.
Not a chance on a 4:13 last mile. First off, I was there watched the whole race and yes Rotich won but in no way did he run 2:29 for the last K or go off the course. He is a legit All-American but you need to stop spreading this garbage.
This dude ran a 3:53 mile indoors. He indeed can close in that.
This is about 90% accurate.. you must have missed the part where Manny missed the starting gun because he was still in the porta potty 300 meters behind the start line. I think that means he ran an extra 2.5 km all together. Don't see how he loses a race the rest of the year if he stays healthy. Great runner
I call BS this dude did cover the last 400 in like 54 seconds.
As impressive as that sounds, shouldn’t he have been DQ’d for running of course? He was the best runner of the day and deserves to be conference champ but does anybody know the rules on this? I’m assuming he wasn’t DQ’d since this mistake didn’t help him but even so.
He was sent off course by a meet director.
That happened to me in high school. Spectators where standing in front of a pylon I was supposed to go around. I had to go back a 100 yds and go around the pylon or get dq'ed. I went from the lead to 15th with 3/4 mile to go. Ended up 6th 10 seconds behind the winner. Top five got all-league.
This is incredible
