Fantastic BYU guys! Watched the race live, textbook xc racing. Their pack controlled race, the 2-3-4-5 guys ran composed then dropped those other guys.
Interesting to note, word on the street is Portland sat out there 3-7 guys and still got 2nd. Not that this would have affected BYU's 15, but this results isn't indicative of how they'll do at Regionals.
But seriously, holycrap BYU.
Who was that chick in the red sports bra and briefs????????
It was funny when he was interviewed and he said they planned to cross together and flash the jersey. Seems like he wanted to get that first place finish haha I'd be the same tbh.

BYU Perfect Scores #3 Portland: most dominant performance in WCC History!!!
Ignoring the fact that Portland has had ten perfect scores at WCC championships, including finishing more than just the top five, while sitting runners out. In 1998 second place USD scored 87 to Portland's 15. Portland won five WCC titles in a row while scoring a perfect 15.

How many of those 10 perfect scores came against a team that was ranked nationally? Furthermore, how many perfect scores came against a team ranked in the top 5? Any against the team ranked #3 in the country? Portland was competing against nobodies...
For BYU, it's not the perfect score alone that makes a performance dominating but the level of competition against which they dominated.
Whether Portland showed up or stayed home with their tails between their legs, they are ranked the third best team in the country. And they couldn't get their #1 or #2 guy to break up BYU's top 5. That is domination.

The way BYU's #2-5 finished and half-heartedly brought attention to their school name made it pretty obvious something hadn't quite gone to script. Dude was clearly racing his teammates and the other guys were wondering if they should still follow through with the plan to flash the jersey. Awkward.

Also Portland used to routinely send full B squads to WCCs and crush with scores in the 20s. Absolutely not trying to take away anything that BYU did this year, but just add to the quoted post.
