As I've developed more of a midfoot strike, one thing I've noticed is that I have more close calls for injuring an ankle when I misstep on cracked sidewalks or tree roots or whatever. Is this normal?

Imagine rolling your ankle when on your forefoot, midfoot, heel.
If in doubt run midfoot (this will p1ss off Bad Wigins, "there is no such thing as the midfoot")
I don't know about ankle rolling, but as I tried to consciously mess with my foot strike I caused myself all sorts of problems... Calf pain, achilles pain, foot pain etc etc.
