Well, after the perma drought the warmers told us about surprisingly ended, a lot of new lush vegetation grew over the last year. Hence, the fires had lots of fuel.
Record heat in the summer, and too many people building too close to vegetation.

You've got that backwards. Fires thrive on old dry tinder, not lush green vegetation.

Poster didn't complete the thought. The drought ended, enabling a much greater growth of vegetation in the spring. That vegetation dried out during a hotter-than-normal summer, creating a lot of tinder for the fires.
Well homes built close to woods or heavy vegetation and having fuel (trees, shrubs, etc) close to houses.
Here in CO we know a little about fires. One of the recommendations is to have a zone of X feet around the house with no vegetation. It is pretty wild to see fires "jump" many, many feet.

Almost all of the homes in California fire areas are immediately surrounded by old growth trees, shrubs and similar vegetation.
Plus the very strong winds pushing the fire. Recipe for disaster.

I suspect Antifa terrorists from Berkeley
If the houses are miles away in the middle of the area away from the forest then how can they catch fire? Do they have wood roofs? Jeeze... So sad.

Wood roofs are banned in California, but much old construction still has them, and the houses are still wood construction tinder for fire. Mexico doesn't get rampant destruction like this because they don't build with wood. Regarding forests, many homes in Santa Rosa are surrounded by trees. I stayed in a home there a couple of decades ago, and was quite aware that it would go in a flash in a fire.
Reportedly, an illegal alien started the fire and it tood off.

You are obviously not from northern California.
And your lack of awareness is not something to be proud of.

Sonoma is not in Santa Rosa, and I said nothing about middle class.
