I'm 10000% sure my sizing and fit are where they need to be. There's certainly some friction (like with any shoe), the problem is that the friction is in a relatively abnormal spot that doesn't work for a lot of running socks. I can go sockless without meaningful blister issues for example, though I don't like running without socks. My socks (and shoes) have a high point of wear just above 7 on this image, rather than the bottom right of 2 for about 90% of the running population.

This seems especially true for more lightweight socks, where the heel and toe are reinforced, but the mid-foot is ultra-thin and not really designed to see any friction. I think it a lot of the socks I've used had the same materials in the mid-foot that they currently use in the heel and toe, they'd work out great (the Feetures are like this).
