When I was younger (college & early 20's) I didn't care much about money. I wasn't materialistic. I figured as long as I had enough to pay my bills that was enough for me.
Now I'm coming up on 40's and I think about money all the time.
I think it changed once the grind of work started to weigh on me in my late 20's. I wanted out. These days I'm still not materialistic but I expend a lot of mental energy on my finances just because I want to stop working by 55 instead of 65.
When did you all start to care about money?
