I happen to know France well, btw (grad school) and I can tell you you'll be hard pressed to find any Kenyans living there. In fact, I think there are more French people living in Kenya than actual Kenyans living there.

Yoann Kowal just switched to road racing aiming the marathon for the Paris Olympic games in 2024.
He'll be 37.

So is Rupp the fastest non-East African this year?
Not even close.
Hi iam french journalist. there is a mistake. The winner is Felix Kiprotich and no Abraham Kiprotich. http://www.trackandlife.fr/abraham-kiprotich-refait-parler-de-lui/

It's not Yoann Kowal but Florian Carvalho:)
Soooo, did the B sample confirm it?

I am french and I didn't even know who this guy is. The real french top marathon runners are H.Chadhi 2.10 in Paris this year, Benjamin Malaty 2.12 PB he just ran 2.13 in Berlin. Some track guys such as Florian Carvalho (3.33 for 1500m sub 7.45 for 3000m he just placed 3rd in the 20k of Paris running 58.40 for his first race above 10k) and Yoann Kowal just switched to road racing aiming the marathon for the Paris Olympic games in 2024.
White supremacy

White supremacy. The guy is a citizen of France. Blame it on your ignorance. Even I am not French and have known of the guy since 2012. Saw him in the marathon and then ran into him at a Paris airport.
Kiprotich continues the strong tradition of French bravery exemplified by such warriors as Marcel Marceau, Pepe' le Peu and Brad Cousteau.
Dude is French, ask the French about EPO. Don't dump it on us because the guy happens to have begun life on earth within the confines of Kenya's geography. BS.
But it’s sooo hard to tell Kenyans apart, doncha know?
Where does not so honest Abe live now? Is he a plastic (Aucune infraction prévue mes amis français 😉).

Never mind. Just read the article. Last seen in Kenya in 2015. The French really have no use for him anymore. Can’t say I’m surprised.

OK thanks - my posts about Abraham Kiprotich improving to 2h-06 xx are thus not correct in the light of this information.

I don't care about kenyans taking french nationality, he's not born here, he came to France as a pro runner so he's not a product of France's athletic tradition, and where does he live right know? Eldoret... yes this guy must feel soooo french!
And to the people who accused me of being a white supremacist(when you don't even know my skin colour), I talked about Hassan Chahdi whose parents are from north africa!
Letsrun update: The poster is incorrect. A kenyan won the race. See page 2.

Well you should know because he is an interesting case. He was selected for the French Olympic marathon team for London 2012. At the time the French authorities starting checking his blood values in the pre Oympic training camps and he started running slower and slower and DNF'd in the Olympics. The next year he ran faster setting a PB of 2h 08 in bad conditions at Daegu but he was not under medical surveillance by the French medical authorities during this time. Then he tested positive for EPO a few months later.
He has been held up as an example of EPO works in Kenyan elite marathon runners. Amusingly to try and counter argue this example, Canova has said that 2h 08 mins was not an elite marathon time and now he has run 2h 06 xx. Maybe that is still not elite or maybe it is because he has stopped using EPO and now runs faster!!

I think his main point was, the French authorities were willing to bend rules to accelerate citizenship for someone who doesn't even seem to want to live in France purely because he could run marathons. Turned out to be a drugs cheat. They should own the good as well as the bad.
