Question for the Masters runners out there in regards to running doubles. Do you like doing doubles on the same day you do a workout or do you prefer to do them on easy/recovery days. I know everyone is different and to each his own, but just trying to see if there's any consensus. I have to do my primary (longer) run of the day in the evening, and I go back and forth on which approach is better. The pros of doing them on workout days is a shakeout in the morning might make the workout feel better and it also keeps the hard days hard and the easy days easy. However, sometimes I wonder if sleeping in on a workout day and just doing one run that day doesn't leave me fresher for the workout. Also, doing them on recovery days lets you get in a couple easy efforts those days to shake the junk out of your legs. Just wondering what others do. Finding the right balance of doing enough work at the right time is key for any runner, but particularly important for us old guys for whom recovery is more important than ever.
