Dude is gym fit, nice mind set. Not sure he has the talent though.
Mind over matter is a nice speech, but reality sets in when you go the through the half at 1:02 having to be comfortable because you have another half to run!
Wish him luck and gods speed!

Yeah interesting cross conditioning. Ventolin claims there is no gyms in this part of the world.
Good stuff. I wish there was more footage of him running.

Will his wife run for New Zealand?
I really enjoyed watching that. Thanks for posting
I'm guessing that interview took place in Kenya.... Does anyone if any Kenyans use gym work to supplement their training, or is it purely a mzungu thing?

Ryan Hall has run under 2:05 (at boston, a non -record eligible course, granted).
Say what you want to about the twins, but they had the cojones to move to Africa out of high school and pursue their dreams. They did what it took. They're reaping the rewards now.

The thing with Zane is if you praise him up he lets you down. But he should be good enough to go 2:08/9, which means Jake is in 2:06/7 shape right now.
With best times of 13:13 / 27:33 he is more likely to run 2:08/2:09 if everything goes great. Unless he has been hiding his long-distance talent from everyone for 12 years. When Salazar ran 13:23/27:49 in Europe he won NYC in 2:09:41. When he set the WR his best times that Summer were 13:28 / 27:40.
When Lopes debuted in '83 at Rotterdam he had run 13:17, 13:18, 13:21 and 27:24 (2nd best all-time), 27:47, 27:57 during the Summer of 1982. Those were also his fastest times to date.
In 1984 he went on to run 13:16 / 27:17 in the Summer before winning the Olympic marathon (the latter was also the 2nd fastest all-time after the Mamede WR in the same race). He ran a WR 2:07:12.
My point is that neither of these guys were Africans and they had track times similar to Robertson (Westside represent), and in most ways better. Neither of them were able to run 2:06:XX.
Maybe he could run that fast if Amsterdam conditions are much faster than these 35-yr-old examples were. I support him, but doubt very much that this is the way it will go.
Sub-2:05? You better get on the best stuff that the Africans are on and STAY ON IT ... I don't see anyone being able to run 2:04:XX (Especially a 13:13 runner) that is not on the best doping program and on it for 1.5 yrs.
The best marathoners can run double their HM time plus 3-4 min.. Time will tell if they have the IT factor for the marathon.
Lets bump it up...
Good luck Zane - hope you can break 2'06" on Sunday (and then few heads will explode around here).
Show somebody how is it done...

Hi KAV, you've got to post a live link on this page before it starts, alright. Thanks.ðŸ‘

70 degrees for the race this Sunday. He is not running 2:06...
While his 5 and 10K times are softer, his HM is about 45 seconds faster then Galen Rupp's PR and under and hour. He is also only 27, so let's see what he can do over the next 3-5 years if he stays healthy and consistent. Also, he has got get the 'fastest non African crap' out of his mindset and try to be the fastest man on earth! Is his brother running Amsterdam too? He just ran a low 60 min half.
Brother Jake heading to Valencia HM in few weeks i think
Zane's HM PB is only 4 seconds behind Ryan Hall's PB
