I just clicked on this thread for the first time.
I had been avoiding it all week, especially when the news first broke out.
I think I could have written this entire thread myself.
It starts off with the headline that describes the initial news with an opinionated slant based on the username the OP decided to use.
Then you have a bunch of misinformed posts and misguided speculation followed by updates of actual facts.
Then several pages of political bickering using the exact same arguments that we see year after year.
And of course, nothing will change as a result of this.
This particular case is extra scary because not only is it the deadliest mass shooting but the shooter doesn't fit into any mold so far where anyone would have seen it coming (except for the massive stockpiling of deadly weapons, of course).
He aquirred the weapons legally.
He didn't have a history of mental issues or political agendas.
Obviously something flipped in him leading up to this.
There is nothing that can be done that would have prevented this or could prevent the next one.
It was a horrible incident and bad things happen sometimes.
The surviving victims and all of the victims family members just need our support now.
