i 100% agree but what you are forgetting here is the guy was equally intoxicated. He was so drunk he was sent home from his own event.
The fact that only the man is charged is actually very sexist.

Yes, the problem has been around for a while. The flames were fanned with the Obama Administration's "Dear Colleague" letter "suggesting" colleges treat accusations on a very low standard for evidence.
Lots of cases of misjustice out there.
Also lots of cases not reported.

If your son is unable to negotiate the basic communications involved in confirming whether or not a woman wants part of his body inside of her body, I agree with you and hope that he doesn't have sex until he learns something.
I'm just beginning to think that having sex with people you don't know might not actually be such a good idea.

Sometimes it's best to just keep it in the family.
Political correctness is stifling open debate and conversation.
Student debt is destroying the ability of young people to start small businesses and tying them to corporate jobs to make repayment.
Title IX policies are ending male sports programs and reducing possible future relationships/marriages by the fear of reprimand.
Progressive/feminist beliefs are effectively destroying our society, not now but in 10 years when it will be too late to do anything about it.

Paraphrase
2 freshmen - boy and girl get drunk on campus separately.
They meet up in the dorms.
She is sexually aggressive with him in his dorm, and leaves.
They text, she asks if he has a condom, he tells her yes and to come back.
She fellates him.
They have sex.
Neither remember much.
She regrets it but is normal with him afterwards.
Until...
She meets with an activist group that convinces her she was raped.
She files against him.
He gets expelled.
He tries to enroll at another school but an 'anonymous tip' at the new school prevents him from enrolling.
Should I dumb it down any more for you?
Great synopsis. Not really dumbing it down, just presenting a concise version, which is great. You're a better reader than most.
if a person is drunk, he or she cannot give informed consent. just cannot consent legally if faculties are impaired.
if you were drunk, would a surgeon accept a consent form you signed while under the influence? no way.
basically, if you boink a drunk chick, you assaulted her. period.
He was drunk too, snowflake retard. So, she raped him. She was the initial aggressor. She dry humped him, conducted fellatio, texted him. She should be arrested for rape because clearly he couldn't consent to her rapist acts. You're too stupid to ever post here again. Please don't.

Celibacy until marriage is a wonderful idea.

Someone did not read the article...

You might want to read the article. Both parties were drunk to the point the guy was not even sure they had had sex!
If neither party can give consent, then what? Lock them both up?
Not to be trite, but in that case seems like it is off-setting penalties.
legally, the onus appears to be on the man.
all the teenage male whiners here should understand that.
getting drunk is perilous for many reasons.
Wow. You just aren't very intelligent are you? Do yourself a favor and read the article. actually read it. I'm suspicious at this point that you are a female, feminist, SJW and possible (cherry on top) an academic too.All of this to say, again, that you aren't very smart.

In the Navy we men do it with so many other men it's only safe to do it dry with protection, rubber hand gloves, no bodily fluids except maybe french kissing. Especially ashore with non-Navy folks. Tell you son he has to do it dry.

Allegations of sexual assault should referred to law enforcement. Deans and committees have no place in deciding guilt or innocence in criminal cases. It's like having the Vatican judge the pedophile priests - it's not their business, it's for lawyers and judges.

What BAC are we using to define "drunk?" Should BAC results be required before engaging in intercourse?
knowing the prospective partner's bac could be included in the 21st-century definition of safe sex.
campus sex is fraught. there's bad science and bad process. i probably wouldn't trust a female title ix administrator, but if you're gonna dip your wick, you need to know all the risks going in. if you've got doubts, keep it in your pants.
good series of articles in the atlantic by emily yoffe. yeah, a smart woman is on the side of the emotionally distressed teenage boys who post here. some female harvard law professors are as well.
