I'm also reading about how consent can be retroactively taken back if the victim feels just so.

Okey dokey, you're incapable of reading for 20 minutes at a time.

2 freshmen - boy and girl get drunk on campus separately.
They meet up in the dorms.
She is sexually aggressive with him in his dorm, and leaves.
They text, she asks if he has a condom, he tells her yes and to come back.
She fellates him.
They have sex.
Neither remember much.
She regrets it but is normal with him afterwards.
Until...
She meets with an activist group that convinces her she was raped.
She files against him.
He gets expelled.
He tries to enroll at another school but an 'anonymous tip' at the new school prevents him from enrolling.
Should I dumb it down any more for you?
The idea that a college has the responsibility to investigate sexual assault allegations is some next level ass backwards thinking. That type of offense is a f*cking crime and should be investigated by the police.
This idiocy is the reason that incidents like this one, where there is no legal basis to support the allegations -- not to mention that common sense tells us the allegations are bullsh*t -- result in severe, undeserved punishments.
Your son is going to have sex. Your job is to raise your son the right way so that he seldom finds himself in positions where bad things happen. Contrary to popular belief, there are many things one can do to achieve this. For starters:
(1) don't get drunk, (2) stay away from people who are drunk.

My goodness. Terrible.
I have a liberal friend who while a victim of sexual assault herself, thinks cases like this are absurd. It's gone so far in one direction that she said she told me she is going to have a talk with her son when he goes out to college about sex - warning him about false allegations. I guess it's the white version of the talk many black parents have with their kids about aggressive policing.
Her advice - don't have sex with an you you don't know.
The thing I don't get from a legal perspective is why if two drunk people have sex, the man is viewed as the aggressor. In this case, she asked him to come back.
Under the logic of anything that happens while intoxicated is a crime, it seems if both are drunk and men and women are viewed as truly equals they both should be charged with a crime as they are both raping the other as neither can consent.
By only charging the man, aren't you buying into old fashioned stereotypes.

Are you asking people to take 20 minutes to read a link you posted?
People have things to do.
You have to summarize it up front so people will have an idea if they want to read further.
You subject line and quick sentence below the link looks like click bait.
Yes, but, point being that it's becoming easier and easier to 'rape' - even when the 'victim' did not initially think so and has to be convinced. And alcohol does not NEED to be involved.

I can understand your frustration and confusion however, consent cannot be granted if alcohol and drugs are involved. There are literally apps that were made to allow individuals to grant consent while sober in the event of drinking/drugs are used later.
The law is clear on this, when someone is under the influence, consent cannot be granted.
... just this once I agree. Basically a woman who has drunken sex can use the alcohol as an excuse but a man can't.

So why aren’t they both charged with rape? The boy couldn’t consent, so it’s just as much that she raped him.
And your subject line doesn't make sense after you explain the article.
You make it seem like you hope he never has sex with a girlfriend or wife if he was to get married.

...by either person. Why is he to blame in this case? Whatever happened to "mutual mistake"?
Good thing I'm well beyond my college years. I'd never have gotten an education.

Correct. He is to blame because the complaint was brought against him. He is well within his right to file a complaint against her.
Again, this is a case that is obviously frustrating because of several factors but this is how the law is written/viewed. From the little I know about the man, it does not seem like he was a bad person or had malicious intent and realistically did nothing wrong. It royally sucks.

You get assaulted, you go to the police. Otherwise, STFU.
The guy should sue. Sounds like a case just make for the ACLU.

OOPS "made".
It was a reference to the direction of what is considered to be rape is going. There is mention of retroactively revoking consent.
Read the article folks. This is just a little slice of the garbage being forced into the minds of our young people on campus these days. Apparently our women are so weak and vulnerable that they cannot survive their college days without the protection of these self-anointed protectors.
Anyone who is even the slightest bit fair-minded must conclude that the law, policies and implementation of these panels is grossly unfair. Every university sanctioning students under these pogroms should be sued into oblivion, as should the individuals who seek refuge under the same policies.
If you are employed by a university and have any involvement in these student conduct processes you should think very carefully about these issues. You should also ensure that your personal liability insurance is up to date and will cover you when you're sued civilly.
I would love it if every guy at that college who had sex while drunk started filing rape complaints against the females.
