See didn't I tell you guys to just ignore Beautiful Day and mindweak? This is like the 3rd or 4th thread they've blown up this week.

They had pulled ahead of most of the field and I think Meb's perspective was, why not work together some to put these guys away altogether. Instead, Rupp just sat back and executed his race plan. I can get why Rupp took that approach - this is an each man for himself sport - but it still seems like a douche move.
If you watch the race again, Meb did as much shoulder-running and drafting off of Rupp as Meb did. Perhaps even more. The difference in the end is that Meb complained about it during the race and the press conference, Galen didn't. I think there are moments where Meb acts like a diva.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I've never heard Galen complain or make excuses after a race. That's generally how I define a douche. Drafting or shoulder-running is part of racing.
the problem with this statement is then he should have WON every race and got silver by 20 seconds to kipchoge in rio.
you claim he can run a 2:06 with pacers...when you are running 2nd place or more you have a pacer, and kipchoge was the pacer for him at the olympics.
you really think that ruppy poop can run a 2:06 with pacers? he wont be able to stay with the pacers...what race did he run that is equivalent to a 2:07? your talking about 3+ min worth, show me the race that proves he was 3 min slower because of tactics, heat, slow course etc....and i will prove your theory wrong
I get that reasonable people see this differently, and I acknowledged it in my post. We just see it differently.

All of them. He trains with the other Kirui who has won a few big races.
Exactly.
I'm telling you - Nobody over there knows who he is. They have tons of people who can run faster than him over a marathon.

Guys, mindweak has been trolling all week - since before Berlin actually. He has only demonstrated that according to him, Berlin and Boston are the same - and there is no difference in running in 80 degress and 40 degrees.
DON'T FEED THE TROLL.

So what? If they don't care enough about their sport to learn about a guy who got 3rd at the Olympics and 2nd at Boston that's their problem.
Rojo - are you just trying to be offended or can you not read? The OP says Rupp has a slow PR and won't improve. I said I think he will run faster than Ritz and Hall who have PRs of 2:06 and 2:07 because he has already run very well against top competition in tactical races. If he continues to place high in competitive marsthons, Rupp will considered better than Hall. He does, after all, have an Olympic medal.

Place never matters? wrote:I bet he eventually runs as fast as Ritz and Hall. Maybe faster. He just needs the right day.
Ritz? We're comparing him to Ritz? Ritz was never really internationally a factor in the marathon. Hall was at least a player.
To act like Hall and Ritz are in the same category of marathoners is disrespectful to Hall. Hall was top 5 in 6 straight Abbott World Marahton majors He broke 2:10 eight times.
Ritz was top 5 in a major once in his career and broke 2:10 3 times. Even when Ritz ran 2:07, he was just 9th in Chicago.
Hall in my opinion is the greatest American born marathoner in history. Better than Shorter. Now that's a controversial view but if they raced head to head I think Hall would have trounced Shorter.
OMG you are annoying. when did i say boston and berlin were the same?
people on here keep saying he has run a 2:07 equivalent already, others say he can run 2:05....i keep saying WHEN AND WHERE has he shown that?
what marathon did he run that was the equivalent of a 2:07? are you saying it was boston? right so now 2:09:58 is worth a 2:07....so when meb ran 2:08 at boston and WON, its worth a 2:05/6?
or was it rio? so your saying his 2:11 was worth a 2:07? so your saying that jared ward ran a 2:08 equivalent? or are you saying it was his olympic trials run that was worth 2:07?
like come on, im a troll? i speculate and you guys dream. somehow ruppy poops runs he has done so far are "WORTH" so much faster, yet everyone else in the races dont get sh*t for a conversion.
again tell me what race rupp ran so far the gives him this 2:07 equivalent? what has he done so far to say he is worth a 2:05?
"uh uh uh his 26:44 while he was juiced to the gills"

Like this?
http://www.oregonlive.com/trackandfield/index.ssf/2011/03/mo_farah_galen_rupp_kara_gouch.htmlI get that you'd like to see him race more, but it's pretty common for elite marathoners to only do a few races a year.
one more thing tip toucher
so your jizzing in your pants and swallowing rupps gravy and acting like he is the MAN
Meb

palmarès = record of achievements but I doubt many Kenyan marathoners speak either French or Catalan
Yeah. Thanks. Seven years ago. So Rupp has a 26 track 10K and a 60 road half, yet his marathon PR is an aided 2,457th of all time.
I know nobody keeps track of this, but they do have a U19 category in cycling. Using that as a baseline, my half marathon PR that I set when I was 17 years old puts me thousands of places higher than Rupp. I won, too, BTW.
Say Bolt had won all he won, yet his PR was 11.3. How would we classify Bolt, when the WR is nearly two seconds faster than he EVER ran? This is a tough one, because though terribly slow overall, Bolt has all those gold medals and wins, right?
And Rupp has ...
You guys are going to ignore this, or take me apart, etc., yet continue to say stuff like "in my mind, Rupp has already run a 2:07." Alright then.
The Chicago Marathon is Sunday. It's a fast course. Fast guys are running there.

Actually the Chicago Marathon is next sunday (October 8th).
You were bagging on Rupp for not running enough road races, yet since he turned to the roads (2016) he has run two marathons a year, with a few prep road races sprinkled in. This is a pretty normal racing schedule for an elite level marathoner.
I'm not a Rupp fan, but the guy has only run 3 marathons in less than two years (and while the times haven't been blazing, his overall finishes have been good, and you're crazy if you want to crap on an Olympic medal). How about we let him run a few more until we condemn him as a terrible marathoner? (and I'm not one saying he's already run a 2:07, but I think he's certainly capable of that or faster now, but as you say we'll see in a few weeks).
Beautiful
2. Rupp won a bronze because each country could only send 3 athletes. Okay
Thats not the reason Oly fields are so weak.
They thought shadows were only dark. Never thought they'd have a gringo that close for the first half-30k.
random fact
between 2012-2016 at Olympics and world championships vs Kenyans Rupp was 10-14
That's a fact I remember running Chicago in 2000 I was amped up so I went out for a 5am warm up and much to my surprise saw a runner coming toward me. I could tell from 200 meters away by the street light that it was the running form of the great Kalhid Kanouchi ! As we passed each other I said " good morning Mr. Kanouchi" to which he replied "good morning". I then said "have a great race today" to which he replied "you too" Great memory!!!
