Running fast is nice, but isn't the goal of a "race" to win it? And if not, to place as high as you can? Fast times are nice, but when I'm in (or should I say "was in"), my goal was to win it. if a fast time is what it took, all the better.
Oh, I agree with you 100%. I have said before on these boards that no matter what Rupp does, his haters will ALWAYS find a reason to discredit. .
3rd in the Olympic Marathon and it's "Well, each country can only send 3 guys so Kenya didn't send their full team and it was hot and humid but he was slow"
2nd in the Olympics 10,000 and it's "Well, Kenya and Ethopia had a bad race, the time was slow and Rupp just sat behind Mo"
2nd at Boston and it's "Well, his time was slow and the elites were in London Marathon"
Lets say he runs 2:04 and sets the AR at Chicago but for some reason doesn't win. His haters will say "it doesn't mean anything" Lets say he runs 2:10 and wins..then it's "Well, he wouldn't have come close in Berlin or Dubai or Rotterdam, etc so he isn't on the same level"
So, go out there, lay down a 2:05, win and shut them all up once and for all..lol. He has had an amazing, amazing career that not a single person on these boards can even touch.
