Where's the guy that used to predict Rupp's ceiling? Wasn't it Jesse? He was awesome.
Where's the guy that used to predict Rupp's ceiling? Wasn't it Jesse? He was awesome.
just a thought wejo
what if rupp doesnt beat ritz and halls PR's?
all this "its hot" "its not certified" "no androgel rub down with happy ending"
when rupp fails to beat those PR's you guys will still swallow his wood glue drip and say "but but but he has place in the top"
you guys will claim the 10k at the olympics is watered down cause all the badboys moved up to the marathon...but the olympic marathon isnt watered down? you can only send 3, and no the countries did not send their best 3..most people get to do 2 marathons a year unless your that hardcore japanese guy.
so you do the rio one and dont do berlin or chicago, and maybe toss in ny
so you are telling me that all the people who did chicago/berlin/ny in 2016 were scrubs? cause they didnt make the olympics?
ok lets start with berlin, since you guys are super smart and savvy you shouldnt be so naive..
Men
1 Kenenisa Bekele (ETH) 2:03:03
2 Wilson Kipsang (KEN) 2:03:13
3 Evans Chebet (KEN) 2:05:31
4 Sisay Lemma (ETH) 2:06:56
5 Eliud Kiptanui (KEN) 2:07:47
yeah those guys wouldnt have beat rupp im sure, especially kb he is a drop out
now chicago
Men's top 5
1. Abel Kirui, 2:11:23
2. Dickson Chumba, 2:11:26
3. Gideon Kipketer, 2:12:20
4. Paul Lonyangata, 2:13:17
5. Stephen Sambu, 2:13:35
looks like it was a tactial affair, and abel kirui has run 2:06:54, but that was 09, but you guys love to say ruppy poop is a 26:44 guy is if its like a vertical and never goes away.
now nyc
1 Ghirmay Ghebreslassie ERI 2:07:51
2 Lucas Rotich KEN 2:08:53
3 Abdi Abdirahman USA 2:11:23
4 Hiroyuki Yamamoto JPN 2:11:49
5 Shadrack Biwott USA 2:12:01
two guys who ran nyc faster than rupp ever has period, and you again say those guys wouldnt have beat ruppy poop either. dude wont by 1 min, and 3rd place was 5 min back, you think he was maxing out the whole way? or running alone and trying not to get bored?
admit it you toss in all those guys into rio and rupp doesnt get bronze?
then toss in dubai, its in jan, so realistically you dont do rio then go try to crush out dubai....
so there was 3 marathons for sure people had to chose from instead of the slow "tactical" marathon, and maybe dubai...the one that lost of strong runners try to make their debut and get a FAST time so they can be invited to the big payday marathons. who do you think gets more pull at berlin next year?
rupps 2:09 or some east african who has dropped a 2:04:30 debut?
rupp will only get special treatment in boston, ny, and chicago cause he is an american. not so much if he tries london or berlin.

LOL WHAT?!? Rupp has had 10X the career of Jager.
Jager runs the freaking STEEPLE. He couldn't cut in regular events. The steeple is watered down JOKE.
dont tell that to Retardo Canova, cause he says shaheen is the best runner of all time

#mindstupid...
oh and one more thing....be careful about saying "joke" around these parts....it might wake up calkunto/vent and OMG he will go on a 16 paragraph confusing ramble, quoting himself and arguing with his own points and getting super pissed and asking
is this a JOKE!!!!!
so just a heads up bro dog, lets not wake calkunto from his slumber
dumb. Those Berlin/NYC/Chicago runners are scrubs compared to Rupp. Bekele is a has been, and Rupp has already beaten him in his best event, the 10000. The reason most of those top Berlin and whatever guys didn't end up in the Olympics is that they knew they may not be able to handle Rupp and Kipchoge so there would be no glory in 4th, 5th or whatever place. Better for them to have skipped that unpaced REAL race.
rupp made $45k or so for winning his bronze
how much for appearance fee, top 3, and a time below 2:05 did kb and kipsang get at berlin last year?
how much for those at chicago and ny?
why is the 10k watered down now? cause everyone moved to the marathon....we have gone over this, and why is the olympic marathon watered down? cause IT DOESNT PAY, and you can only send 3. if they changed it up and made winning the olympic marathon 5 million, you can bet your a$$ it wouldnt be watered down.
http://www.totalsportek.com/news/olympic-gold-medal-prize-money/
Also - Rupp has been extremely competitive in all of his marathons. 1st. 3rd. 2nd.And - all of these marathons were much less than ideal conditions. Both LA and Boston were extremely hot for marathon conditions. The Olympics was warm with very high humidity. If Chicago has the ideal weather, I think you're going to see Galen run a significantly faster time (and a PR) provided there are others going out at a fast pace as well. I'm a huge fan of Hall - but Hall has 0 Olympic medals and two third place finishes in the major marathons. Rupp already has a bronze, and a 2nd place in Boston. He's already an accomplished marathoner and it seems like he's just getting started.....the question is whether Rupp will be able to match Hall's best times.....
I don't like Rupp. I think he's a primadonna, his coach is an @$$, and the whole NOP is shady.
But if you overlook a guy who has 2 Olympic medals and has run 26:44 you're an idiot.
You seriously think that's all Rupp got? It's the damn Olympics. The biggest exposure of all sports except maybe soccer!! You think he didn't get any endorsements?? How much in total would Phelps medal be? Now consider he got $12 million in endorsements!!!

So says someone that likely has little to no talent at all. As I recall, didn't Jager also run a fairly decent 1500, in the low 3:30 to 3:30 range range? Sounds like a pretty good time for a 'regular" event to me.

OOPS meant 3:30 to 3:31range.
yeah cause he is an american.....how much do you think Feyisa Lilesa made from endorsements?
not anything compared to what pasty snowflake ruppy poop got. stop trying to argue that the marathon olympics arent watered DOWN.
1 Eliud Kipchoge Kenya 2:08:44 (won easy!)
2 Feyisa Lilesa Ethiopia 2:09:54 (how much did he make $)
3 Galen Rupp United States 2:10:05 PB (hurray a white guy!! lets suck him off on his slow time and nike gives him a big ol bonus, too bad he isnt marketable)
4 Ghirmay Ghebreslassie Eritrea 2:11:04 (4th place at the olympics and slow time? you get nothing, should have done berlin and 4th place gets you something, oh wait he isnt fast enough to get invited)
5 Alphonce Simbu Tanzania 2:11:15
6 Jared Ward United States 2:11:30 PB (personal best? i thought it was slow and tactical cause it was brutally hot)
7 Tadesse Abraham Switzerland 2:11:42
8 Munyo Mutai Uganda 2:11:49 SB
9 Callum Hawkins Great Britain 2:11:52 (no name in the top 10)
10 Eric Gillis Canada 2:12:29 (no name in the top 10, but we are stoked that 4 white guys made top 10!!!! yeah for watered down races!)
11 Abdi Nageeye Netherlands 2:13:01
12 Mumin Gala Djibouti 2:13:04 PB
13 Lemi Berhanu Ethiopia 2:13:29
14 Stephen Kiprotich Uganda 2:13:32

The "dude who won by 1 min"? Rupp beat him in the Olympics by 1 min.
No, Rupp is not Kipchoge, but he's capable of 2:05 in a flat, rabbited race.
MeHereYouWhere?! wrote:
I am saying this now...if Rupp doesn't go 2:07 or lower at Chicago, he never will. Flat course. Weather is looking really good. Good competition. Marathon experience. Healthy (as far as we know).
Look at his 3 marathons: LA Marathon was hot. Rio was hot and humid. Boston is not known to be a fast course. This is his best chance so far to lay down a "real" fast time.
Running fast is nice, but isn't the goal of a "race" to win it? And if not, to place as high as you can? Fast times are nice, but when I'm in (or should I say "was in"), my goal was to win it. if a fast time is what it took, all the better.
mindweak, you do realize that Rupp beat Ghirmay by a minute in the Olympics, right?
Also, you keep talking about how he would get his ass kicked if he ran against a bunch of 2:04 guys. Well at the Olympics he beat Stanley Biwott, who ran 2:03 in London 2016, as well as Tesfaye Abera and Lemi Berhanu Hayle who both ran 2:04 in Dubai 2016.
Trolling? No.
It's funny how Boston is fast for those guys running 04 times, but slow when Rupp runs it. And how it's impressive Rupp was 1:21 behind Kipchoge in the Olympics, when he was only 1:25 ahead of Ward.
This is apples to oranges, but this is going to be Rupp's fourth marathon. Salazar had run 2:09.41 and won NYC, 2:08.13 and won NYC and set a WR (whatever) in 81, 2:08.52 or something and won "slow" Boston in the "heat" in 82, after a stupid track 10K, then ran a 2:09 something to take Gomez late in NYC.
This is Rupp's 1982 NYC marathon, or actually the LAST great race Salazar ever ran. NO COMPARISON. Just saying, that at some point, Rupp is going to need to show up, you know?
Chicago is either going to go at 2:05-6, and Rupp is going to have to hang with that, and close. NOT fade like he did at Boston. Or, it's going to go 2:08 pace, and Biwott or Dennis will be sub-15 the last 5K. Is Rupp still there? I'm just looking for him to get into the top-100 list of marathoners, since he's so great and all.
oh no! you didn't not just hit him with facts did you? the audacity of this guy
This is why he is called mindweak
