I think because she kept winning and winning and setting records the pressure on her to keep her flawless XC streak must've been tremendous her senior year. And to lose in her final XC race... I mean, that would probably break anyone. I can't come anywhere near relating to that.
If I recall correctly, she didn't do any post-season track races and mainly focused on the 3200. She was clearly meant for distance as I believe her 800 PR was not much faster than her mile.
That being said, she broke the CA xc state meet record twice, I think. If I recall correctly, I read on dyestat that it was faster than like 10 Footlocker champions and a bunch of other finalists ever ran which is insanely impressive. She was badass.
