Runners World Online Forums is being shut down.
You might want to read up on the C25K program - there will soon be a lot of people on here looking for advice on how to break 35 minutes.

Ok, I checked and you are correct. However, they are migrating the discussions to Facebook groups.
Strange move on RW's part. That's a built-in set of eyeballs for their advertisers that will be hard to replace. I wonder what the strategy is.
LRC should seriously consider jumping on the opportunity to create a beginner's board with some crusty but non-troll moderators to keep it going but keep it real. Of course, LRC should do a lot of things...
It must not be worth the cost of maintaining it.
I have been on and off the forums for years. It was a pretty congenial place actually. Cannot say the same for all forums on all running sites.

One room devoted to all things Rossi.

This is actually a good suggestion. Will LRC do it? Highly unlikely. There should also be separate boards for real running advice, political commentary, running memes and jokes, and one just for trolls. Right now it's all combined often in one thread.
They'll need to be fully vetted before posting here.
Unless the someone actually competes against elites and is still currently a paid athlete, then we are all hobby joggers, regardless of times. Because in someones elses eyes, we aren’t fast enough and gets beat at races.
So it appears they are already here. I always see people seeking advice to get faster, critique my times etc.. on this site. So no matter how fast people claim to be, they will always look for a way to become a better runner.
I came here from RW forums
I'm assuming traffic/posts there simply tailspun--very little active posters (250?)
and hobby joggers are bad because why?

True. Could you imagine what kipchoge would think of someone that runs a 15:00 5k calling someone a hobby jogger?
Still, you must admit that this board isnt a friendly place for the the 5 hour marathoner
This place is not a friendly place for the people who have created for themselves a safety net of an assumed clique. Guaranteed, most of these people on this board would hate each other because you would be so obnoxious to each other that it would either be comedic or a travesty at best. I hate all of you so it does not matter.Having said that, none of you are good enough, nor are you making enough money to judge anyone on their time, how they race, where they race, why the race, or what shape they race in.To do so is to try to attain entitlements of character to which most of you are not entitled. None of you really are entitled to make this an unfriendly place because, well, you just ain't good enough. And, honestly, I hope the RW crowd does come here with their 5 and 6 hour marathons, 35 minute 5Ks, etc and does try to make this room about advice with running. It will just stop so many of you from being good-time trolls who like to make this a room of depravity and filth, rather than of running.Honestly, I have raced with the 6 hour people, and I have raced with the 4 hour people and I have done 5Ks with the 27 people and with the 19s. But also honestly, if I saw most of you at a race, or had the opportunity to meet you, I'd tell most of you to go to you know where. Why? I am poor. I am nothing. I am slow. I am a hobby jogger. But when you die and I die, the dirt will look the same.BOOM!

Yeah? Well I had sex with your wife
Runners World seems to be interested in slowly killing itself off. They bought Running Times and bled it out. Now the magazine is not about running anymore. It is "nutrition" ie. gluttony, and "how to kill a 10K" with tips like run/walk. Barely a mention of anything competitive. Of course, the print format is dying so RW will likely die anyway.
Killing forums seems like a next logical step. Probably their forum required people to register their name and act like responsible people. No such requirements here!

On fb there will be no profiles/sigs at the bottom of posts listing PRs which was one feature I liked on RW. Maybe Strava would be a better bet?
IIRC they changed their forum software a couple years ago, made it much worse, and lost a bunch of posters/activity at that time. There might have been a long downtime between software too, but maybe I'm confusing that with something else. Now with moving on to facebook, they definitely seem interested in killing themselves off.
I used to occasionally pick up a hard copy of the magazine before a long flight, but now it's absolutely awful and not even useful for killing a few hours.
I read their Boston 2018 BQ analysis thread. It's very active and fascinating. I will never read their facebook group. Dumb decision. Most will go to runningahead, not here. No one's going to facebook groups.
THIS FORUM NEEDS A FIRE WALL AND RUNNERS WORLD WILL PAY FOR IT!!!!!!!!
