Always amusing to see the ecstatic faces just under 3:00:00 give way to the self-remonstration of the 3:00:xx guys.

+1,000,000
Especially if he now joins the testing pool.

The man is rich. Was with him a few weeks ago. Not even a little bit worried about the world record or who smashes it. As long as he continues to collect good Adidas money, he is happy. And there is a good chance he bounces back this fall.

WTF???
Yeah, got me thinking about Bikila as well. Looks very smooth and relaxed, and seems very efficient, not wasting any energy with his short, compact stride. Think he would have struggled in a sprint finish though.
note added in proof: Today's race also shows that the Monza thingie was a hoax.

This time in shoes, here is Bikila again, starting a 2:15 of the following video (includes some slo-mo footage):

Scenes like these make be proud to be a fan of athletics from Kenya. Sports bars in other countries are for football, F1 and even golf. Never marathons.

The Anna/Hanher sisters, always underwhelming. Always adored. Alwaya treated like royalty.
This. Even if you don't find any annoying tendencies with Kara Goucher you'd be in for a big wtf with these two.

Not losing any sleep over "any annoying tendencies with Kara" and suggest you try & do the same. As for a country showing love for their marathon elites, I can only say I am jealous & wish I lived somewhere where running prowess was more revered.
No way -- the Hahner twins are great! Always smiling, always happy, and seem to attract a flock of men each time they race. If you want to make the sport "popular", these girls can only help.
Eliud is GOAT, but he's plateau'd folks. Look elsewhere for the WR. Sub 2 is not happening anytime soon in a race (maybe a sub2 event). Current crop won' t get there.
They would fit right in, in "America".
(I got that insult hurled at me once.)
Until the big-ass clock car gets pulled out of mothballs, no ones sniffing low 2:02 for a while. Sub 2, forget about it.
