I read that Johnny Marr than a 3:54:18 marathon and it got me thinking about other celebs who have run the marathon. Anyone know who is the fastest?
Obviously their fame must stem from a non-sporting background.
Any advances on Marr's 3:54:18?

Only if there were a list of such accomplishments: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_non-professional_marathon_runners
Illinoisphotographer,
Wow, Alan Turing with a 2:46 in 1948; what an interesting character.
Correction. Alan with a 2:46 in 1947.
I believe Oprah ran a 2:57, which is not too shabby.
Add 90 minutes and yea she did
That's a super cool Wikipedia article.
My faves are Brian Cranston 3:20 and Pat Tilman 3:48

According to this biography
http://www-history.mcs.st-andrews.ac.uk/Extras/Turing_running.htmlhe ran quite a lot "his frequent route being from Cambridge to Ely and back, a distance of around 50 km"
Anyone else impressed by the stocky Clarence Thomas running a 3:11?
W put up a pretty solid time for an old guy too.
In a show of bipartanshsip, Harry Reid and David Petraeus (2:50) were also impressive.
Gotta love porky weatherman Al Roker at a smoking 7:09 at NYC.
He must have stopped for pastrami sandwiches, cream soda and knishes for lunch, and a slab of roast beef with baked potato and wine for dinner at Tavern-on-Green, But he didn't quit! What a competitor. Eat my shorts, Rod Dixon.

Robin Quivers smoked him by an hour
Someone needs to update that page to change Jared Fogel's Notability from Subway to child molester.
Give it up to Dana Carvey with the 3:04

There was a Turing Trail relay event in that area but I don't think it has been held for a few years.
It is well known in running circles over here about his Olympic Marathon trial result.
Another one of possible (minor) interest is that Lord Coe doesn't have the best time for a British parliamentarian in the London Marathon (possibly he hasn't run one), this goes to ex-MP and journalist Matthew Parris
"The former Tory politician, now political columnist Matthew Parris, ran an impressive 2:32:57 in 1985, a record that has stood for 31 years."

I like Thomas but no way the 3:11 number is accurate. Also, there is a notation on that time that says unofficial, whatever that means.
Very unlikely, but good luck finding the results for those old marathons. If true, it's a very good first marathon with under of a year training.

4:29 for Oprah. I think that's called the "Oprah Line," as in when your female jogger friend finishes a marathon you ask whether she broke the Oprah Line. Cast derision if she did not.
