Alrighty folks, it's that time of year again. Time for decent high school runners to re live their glory days in college pretending and wishing they were on the D1 team. I saw there wasn't a thread for this year yet so here we go.

BTW if you don't know what NIRCA is, it is the governing body for college club running. It is like D3 running just without the "academic" scholarships, coaches, and NCAA rules at D1 schools.
Yeah our club had scholarships bmao
Keep an eye on ISU's Jason Thomas. Just ran a sub 1:08 HM. Should translate to a killer 8k
@habs where are you
Alright Nircallstars, who are the teams/individuals to lookout for heading into regionals and nats?
On the men's side top contenders based of last years results are Ryan Jones and Nathan Kwan.
A handful of the Oregon guys could be in the mix (they put 4 in the top 10 last year). I heard a rumor Seth Berdahl is going to show up in cut-off overalls and take it out on 24:00 pace. Kwan or Jones also might get grabbed by ISU's Jason Thomas or William Graham (1-2 in the 5k last spring). The Penn State frosh from last year joined the Varsity team, so he is out. The only other returners in/near the top 10 would be the Michigan guys (including the infamous NIRCA Ross).
Of course there will always be some random ass 27 year old post D1 grad students in the mix.
Really it's always too hard to to tell before Regionals (unless your habs) due to the inconsistency/legitimacy of courses and the fact that no one really races each other until Regionals.
Habs bring out the data machine.
*you're

Seth told me he's going to watch Eraserhead the night before the race to get hyped up. He also soloed a 25:30 two Saturdays ago during a 95 mile week...expect great things.

Infamous?

Great Plains Regional:

Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regionals were also today, couldn't find results though.
Iowa State looks to be improved even after losing Rob Scanlon. Two guys I've never heard of in their top 5 en route to scoring 22 points to win Great Plains.
I don’t see how Iowa State doesn’t win Natties. They were already dirty fast with the top two 5k track guys and now they’ve added some random European dude with a 3:49 1500 PB to their team. Also, no one from their club ever seems to graduate on time.

No one in NIRCA seems to graduate on time. That's also just the general trend across "4 year" universities. The secret to winning NIRCA is old dudes... Just look at winning teams from past years.
That being said, the winning time was only 26:00, I wouldn't be so set on Iowa State taking the W.
Everyone knows course-to-course variation and weather conditions make XC times pretty irrelevant. The fact of the matter is: they absolutely dominated a region that is traditionally quite strong.
But of course, everything is just speculation and bullsh*t until everyone toes the same line.
Iowa State has a bunch of daddies on their team
Can someone explain what happened in the MidAtlantic region mens race?
https://clubrunning.org/races/race_results.php?race=535
Who are the best teams and individuals out of this region?
I am also wondering what happened to the MidAtlantic Results, I texted a friend who was at the race to at least know the results from my former school. Anybody have insight?
Don't sleep on the University of Cincinnati run club. Those guys have sex with women
The course was improperly set up and many of the top runners went the wrong way, leading them to run about 9K instead of everyone else's 8. If anyone is familiar with the course at Lehigh (Paul Short, etc) Near the end of the course there is a point where you can either go right or left. The 5K, 6K and 10K courses all go right, while the 8K course goes left and at that point there are about 800m to the finish. The women's race was first, and there were cones set up for the women to go to the right to follow the proper 6K course. The cones weren't moved to accommodate the men's race, and the complete lack of race officials or volunteers at this point (or really any point in the course) caused the top runners to follow the wrong course. I'm not sure where in the pack people started to go the right way, but the times were obviously inaccurate for a lot of people, and the top finishers were not the people who led the race up until that point.
Not sure why the results are so messed up and no times are shown. The places are also very off, at the end of the race I would have guessed that I finished around 50th-60th however I am shown in almost 300th in the results.
TL;DR The course was marked wrong and the top portion of runners ended up running about 9K. The results are in no order that makes sense to me based on having seen the finish unfold.
